It's not about the degree. It's about the connexions. Meritocracy is 100% dead in this judeocracy. You either can profit from nepotism, or you cannot. The entire purpose of college is to add interesting contacts in your address book. Sadly, the current system is only teaching fake morals to kids who only apply in movies, so they have to figure out by themselves the hard truth : behind the facade, everything is rotten to the core.
Most kids figure this out way too late and they made frens with other dead-ends rather than licking the right boots in HS/uni.

Of course all this play-pretend game only apply if you give a shit about all this vain vanity muh social status. And desu, you have to think like a woman for you to try to be le career tryharder. That's why all our politicians are such slimy pieces of shit with nothing between their legs.

Due to ageing, I guess. I realised that my performance had been deteriorating over time and could no longer hit my target scores for the fitness proficiency tests. Being a firefighter here, you have to be extremely fit. The fitness proficiency test has a tier system that evaluates all firefighters based on sets of fitness stations you have to clear. Failure to pass will have you transfer to doing a non-strenuous role for the force instead, most likely permanently. So instead of accepting my fate to doing shitty office work, I decided to get my degree and make the best out of working in the office instead.

I thought it was a meme, I heard people say nursing was fucking terrible, I only looked at the bright side and thought:
>Three 12 hour shifts
>Hot women everywhere
>Get paid 40+/hr
>Get to walk around and exercise
I got through an ADN program, I hated 90% of my classmates. All the women were fucking CUNTS, even 2 of them that flirted with me were just playing games for attention. I got out, got a job and 3 years into Nursing, I had an actual mental breakdown. I was just sitting in my car on break and started punching the shit out of my wheel. Annoying women everywhere, doctors treat you like shit, it feels like you're a robot and the hospital is a literal high school. Patients will annoy you nonstop, and you get sick often. My god healthcare is fucking bad. I wanted to strangle my coworkers. I went part-time WFH with a pay cut to pursue CS. Thank fucking god, all the time I spent pursuing Nursing felt like a complete waste of time. I advise anyone considering it to volunteer to see if you can handle working in a hospital day in and out. It drove me insane, I wish I didn't jump into Nursing without at least trying it.

Since people are posting about their life experiences I guess I'll ask here.
>why are you asking 4chan instead of your parents?
All they give me is the usual "just follow your heart" bullshit, I want to hear your personal experiences.

I'm 19 and this is my last year of high school, I have a choice between two different degrees.
My two choices are biochemistry/biotechnology and computer science. I live in a poor EU country, hoping to move west.
Is it true that working as a researcher pays like shit? I really enjoy both subjects, but with the world turning upside down I don't want to be caught poor. Working to change-da-wurld isn't really fulfilling if you just barely scrape by, day by day. But I also don't want to be the guy who sold his soul for money. I have straight As in everything so my only limitation is what I want to do.

Computer science and biochemistry anons, what has been your experience?

Parents are breeders, and breeders have an agenda to make everyone miserable. They benefit from you giving them grandchildren and don't have your best interest at heart. This is unconsious manipulation, they may be trying their best and still miss the mark.

not in that field but from what I know from being around chemistry fucks in academia, it sucks shit. you can pull 20k off a stipend in some grad school positions but it seems like they get pigeonholed into being academic assistants or research technicians. theres a real divide between private sector / public unis in their methods, programs they use, programming languages they use, etc. plus you'll end up working for some pompous uni professor who things they're saving the world and you're just a peasant who should be so fucking grateful for the opportunity that you'll that you should be pulling 50+ hrs a week. someone please correct me if im wrong bc I don't know much of biochem private industries. maybe theyre better than i'm making it out to be

if you're into comp sci, establish your own online business or service that operates in the US or an EU country with stronger currency and just do that. you can likely live like a king if you're in an eastern country where even a few thousand USD can go a long way. just make sure you go bragging to friends or family. they'll come knocking for handouts, or god forbid the assumedly corrupt government in your area will come knocking on the regular

I tried applying for jobs for the same reason and there were a lot more bank related job openings back then compared to now. I'm saying just check them out, there wont be that many to make you feel any crunch in your time but it's better now than graduating and having fuck all to do plus I gotta compete against thousands of graduates now. Also tech and the economy is just not doing well so there's also a lot less jobs opening compared to back then despite the small time frame. Just try. Goodluck.

I picked up some stuff from them, skills-wise, and then when i was 20 i started helping some handyman freelancer in the weekends, with no pay other than covering my transport to the job sites, and i just did that for a few months until i felt confident i learned enough and decided to go door to door and just leave my number for people to call. Unemployed for past 6 months while taking care of parents

Married, kid on the way, parents just died a few days ago, but I probably won't see a dime of the money they left me until the whole family sits down with lawyers, which could take months at least (absurd wills with lots of clauses). Have made roughly 50K off crypto over the past few years, but always eventually used profits to pay for shit that is pretty necessary for living (rent, electricity, food, insurance, vehicle repairs etc...). Not looking forward to months of arguing with scummy relatives, but when that's over, I should have enough money to invest and live on for at least a decade and a half. Barely passed school because I was aimless. The only real job I could land is mud logging which requires you to work 12 hour days three to four weeks in a row and you live in a trailer with four other strangers. Decided that wasn't a life I could live.

Technical writing might work. Alternatively you will have an easy time in the field of private education. There are many private tutoring services that cater to wealthy international students who will pay you well to improve their English skills and what not. If you're personable and a decent teacher you will likely be able to earn anywhere from $40-$60 an hour.

I'm a 3rdie pajeet, high schools do not hand out h1b, the only ones that do are academia, which is why I applied to those jobs in first place
it is really interesting though, usa have a very high teacher shortage but they cannot hire me.
I was going to technical writing because they have a chance of giving h1b, or I can work from my 3rdie home remotely.

T. Former anon

I am not from the US so it's maybe better there. I can't imagine paying for studying this tough - it must be the ultimate cuck findom. The real redpill is to not even specialize and just take the night shifts, and holiday shifts in provincional hospitals to maximize profits and dump this big turd of a job as early as possible. Personally I wanted to be a general surgeon for many years of my life. Now I deeply regret this decision, there is actually nothing fun in this. It's gross, dangerous, people mostly despise you and you hear so many sad stories that you have a high chance to be clinically depressed. Believe me, if you have a soul, hearing stories of dead babies in accidents etc will take a toll. Being a doctor now is not a mythological doctor postion like it was 100 years ago. Now you are just a soulless cog in a huge shady health industry. More like a "disease manager" not a doctor. The pros is that you can prescribe yourself drugs so at least you can get high.

Gonna be very cringe and just say I only got where I am because of being humble and accepting some people are better than me and learning from them to get as decent or as close to as I can to being on their level. So anyone trying to upskill themselves or pivot into a better paying field, best of luck just keep motivated and to a routine. If you see someone who’s better than you chat to them and ask them once in a while for critique.
