I finally managed to get out to try my new toy!
Was a bit nippy, and (kinda expected that) had not enough flow/not enough of a drop to actually use said toy.
Pan man, if you're reading that, got any recommended vids for sluice setup and use?
How much dirt could I actually run through it, before I gotta clean it out?

However, my other new toy was perfectly fine to use. Cleaned out that crack with the big gravel right next to the pump. Worked really nice. Guess when I'm going back next, I'm going to clean the crack where the shovel's in. Not too much gravel, it seems, but that large lip (highest point all around) sure should catch some stuff.

Imagine if the price of Silver had somehow never exceeded $1.29/oz back in the 60s and we were still using Silver coins. The common junk from the 50s and 60s we have today would be extremely worn and somewhat hard to find in circulation. Finding a Merc dime in a roll of dimes would be like finding a Buffalo Nickel in a roll of nickels. Stacking of course wouldn't exist in any recognizeable form, but some people still would hoard Silver Dollars purely out of distrust for the government.

All in all, pic related ("biggest" piece is like 1mm). But for 1.5 hours (including the bike ride to the spot), it's not too bad, I guess.

very nice, anon! would suggest if you want to go bigger on the sluice look into a frame pack for hauling in bulkier equipment. old milsurp ALICE frames even have a shelf option; just tie down and go. presumably sluices don't weigh much on their own.

Best bet aside from online would be coin and antique shops in Britain, was in Germany recently and there was an iron cross in pretty much every shop. In this case, I could see that bottom, and that was 100% smooth rock (well rounded "cracks", probably dug out by rotating pebbles), but I found pic related. I'm going to keep it (have afew more) and crush and pan them at some point. Could be quite interesting.

As with bullion, security in numismatics starts with a reputable dealer. Dealers and grading companies cannot afford to be dealing in fakes so they make an effort not to.

He didn't confiscate silver because it was still used as currency. If he had nullified both gold and silver it's possible he would've demanded silver too.
