>Reports from China indicate BF.7 has the strongest infection ability out of the omicron subvariants in the country, being quicker to transmit than other variants, having a shorter incubation period, and with greater capacity to infect people who have had a previous COVID infection, or been vaccinated, or both.

>To put this into context, BF.7 is believed to have an R0, or basic reproduction number, of 10 to 18.6. This means an infected person will transmit the virus to an average of 10 to 18.6 other people. Research has shown omicron has an average R0 of 5.08.

>The high transmission rate of BF.7, taken with the risk of hidden spread due to the many asymptomatic carriers, is understood to be causing significant difficulty in controlling the epidemic in China.

I met this super qt half black half arab girl at a club one time while she was at the bar, and I offered to buy her a drink. The health care system was never and has never been overloaded by COVID. My wife’s uncle is a pulmonary specialist at a hospital in Alabama and he said they got to capacity in the ICU at one point but never had to turn anyone away or triage elsewhere in the hospital. They had something like 60 ICU beds serving a million people in the area. So out of a million people only 60 people at any given time were severely ill enough to warrant an ICU stay. Not much of a “pandemic” if you ask me.

The Federal Reserve System, often referred to as the Federal Reserve or simply "the Fed," is the central bank of the United States. It was created by the Congress to provide the nation with a safer, more flexible, and more stable monetary and financial system. The Federal Reserve was created on December 23, 1913, when President Woodrow Wilson signed the Federal Reserve Act into law. Today, the Federal Reserve's responsibilities fall into four general areas.

Conducting the nation's monetary policy by influencing money and credit conditions in the economy in pursuit of full employment and stable prices.
Supervising and regulating banks and other important financial institutions to ensure the safety and soundness of the nation's banking and financial system and to protect the credit rights of consumers.
Maintaining the stability of the financial system and containing systemic risk that may arise in financial markets.
Providing certain financial services to the U.S. government, U.S. financial institutions, and foreign official institutions, and playing a major role in operating and overseeing the nation's payments systems.

IMHO, a vol of vol (VVIX) switch is slightly more robust.

But the milkbreaths won't listen to me. About VVIX. They won't try to model vol regimes. The whites. The school shooters.

Some types don't, if you are at a real broker.
>Can't you just make a straight bet on the direction of a stock and if you're wrong you lose your bet and that's it.
If you buy a call/put, thats not just about direction but also about volatility. In any case it shouldn't require margin, though of course if you want to exercise it instead of selling then you might need margin.

The market is finally starting to believe what JPOW's been saying all year: Rates will stay at 5.XX% for at least 2023. You can believe one of three things, depending on how bearish you are:
1) The occasional bullish sentiment that has kept us flat YoY will go away, and we will return to this year's lows before...
2) A sustained 5% federal funds rate suppresses growth and innovation, creating a multi-year crab market, unless...
3) The last decade of ZIRP has created a marshmallow economy that will implode after months of zombie companies being forced to pay interest. 2023-2024 we crash like in 2008.

I'm only as bearish as #2, but there is also reason to believe #3. It's foolish to be a bull right now.

That's just standard American healthcare. My friend went to the ER years ago because of a kidney stone and ended up waiting so long he passed out from the pain in the ER. The I had to drive a friend and his wife to the hospital when they were having their baby and after they were inside I went out for a smoke. There was literally a guy laying in front of the hospital doors off to the side bleeding on the ground. I went in and told the people at the front desk that there was literally someone laying outside and they both kind of laughed and were like "oh". It was fucking pathetic. American healthcare is an abomination.

>You get what I'm asking?,
not from your initial post, because "trading options" is an extremely diverse field
>I hear about people getting margin called cause the price went up instead of down or whatever,
thats people trading spreads or selling options; if you just buy with your own money, you can't get margin called
BUT buying options is very risky, most options expire worthless
>Say I wanted to bet $1000 on SPY reaching $410 by Jan 7. How do I go about making that bet?
here's the option chain: https://finance.yahoo.com/quote/SPY/options?p=SPY&date=1672963200
SPY expires on fridays and offers Jan 6 and Jan 13; the Jan 6 option is to be exercised by morning on Jan 7 so its kinda what you want
so you want to scroll down to the 409 strike price, a call at that strike price costs 0.42
with those, if SPY is $410, you can buy it for $409, the call itself cost you $.42, leaving you with $.58 profit per share of exposure
thats not optimal if you expect it on exactly $410, so maybe you want to buy half as many calls but buy them with the 403 strike price (0.90 each) and then you get 410-403.90 profit per share of exposure

thats the basic idea, in practice you probably want to leave yourself freedom so the option doesn't expire worthless if you're a day off etc
also in practice each contract will give you 100 shares of exposure, so you pay $90 or $42 and can buy 100 * $403/$409 shares with it
and also SPY has multiple option chains to choose from, with VOO and SPX being alternatives for roughly the same thing, but pricing should be identical
but thats the idea
