Ok, so the market is going to crash down to 3200-2500.
The real question is, what do we buy when it gets there?
Commodities or growth?
And if commodities, oil or copper?

I can't help but feel like the China re-opening will balance out the industrial commodities recession dump, and they may trade surprisingly flat.

I also wonder what will happen to China if they ZIRP into zero global demand.
Sounds like a crisis of overproduction in the making to me.

>He's got some really delusional hedgefund and institutional bagholders like Cathie Woods that seemingly exist only to funnel money to Tesla
That's what caused the original squeeze, but it's no longer maintainable.
Cathy can't actually create buying pressure because she already holds 10%, and as all her other bags crashed even harder than tesla, she's actually been forced to sell some down over time. While her fund is still getting inflows somehow despite losing the entirety of it's gains, it's not enough. She made that recent token buy of 100k shares, but its pure cope. She can't build hype like she once could.
Huong is in jail now. Elon is selling. Elon has infinite shares because the tesla board (which he controls) voted himself a comp package worth multiple billions, with payout based largely on him pumping the share price. Even if he no longer want's to sell, he owes taxes on that shit.
Short interest is at 2% but likely to ramp back up as they finally smell blood. (eventually this may cause another gamma squeeze miracle but for now it's clearly a negative for the supply/demand of shares).
There are a lot of legacy holders still sitting on gains from pre-covid. As tesla approaches $100 and they see the entirety of their gains rapidly disappearing, many will cut. Selling breeds more selling. Momentum cuts both ways.

And I haven't even gotten into the fact that Elon's twitter takeover and constant political shitposting has isolated more than half of that retail shareholder base. Tesla was the definitive tech bro penis enlargement product. It's the most popular model in California. 70% of California are democrats and with these dumb tech bros it's closer to 85%.
Hard to see much positive with Tesla at this point.

Is not that bad of a fuck up considering most don't invest in currency hedged ETFs. Considering how volitile currencies have been though it would probably be smarter going with the hedged I think (I do). For me, I care about the actual trade I make not the trade on the SP+Currency I barely hold more than a few days or wk though. I don't want to buy SP500 at 3900 see it go to 4000, try sell to find out 80% the gains wiped out by currency changes.

Another good day for me. Ticker watched round lunch time and late this afternoon and made my moves. Bagged every one of my previous sold KO shares and then late this afternoon I bagged more WBD for the cherry topper to send off 2022. Hiked my 401k contribution by 12% and my E-Fund contribution by 10% today as well. Starting in January my state's income tax will fall from 5% to 4.5% with further cuts a happening if state revenue hits certain markers as each year going forward rolls on. So my salary will be getting a slight boost from them not sucking out so much in withholding. Then in July the big 6 - 12% salary boost.

Seems like 0,13% cost isn't too bad to be safe from wild currency swings, but I'm very new to this and very retarded. Is it because the exchange rate swings will even out over time and because that 0,13% will be much worse because I'm missing out on compound interest?

>Why don't the Americans like trains?
They're generally not that fast.
The ones that do go fast are not that cheap.
They're not always on time, or even running at all.
They don't go directly where you want to go.
Swapping connections at a station can be confusing.
You have to sit next to random people.
Can't bring much luggage. Has to be stuff you can carry around with you simultaneously.

I appreciate subway systems in the city, and wish our cities didn't all have highways running through the middle. I also wouldn't mind if we had better train systems to/from/between cities in the northeast coast or around California, but outside that the US is much too big and empty. Fastest trains go around 300 mph (ignoring stops). Planes go 550 mph.
We've never had our continent runover by war, so there's no wreckage to easily tear down and rebuild better.

American subway systems are worse than walking. Taking the trains in London and Japan was really eye opening. In America the subway is usually 5-10 minutes late and doesn't make it to its destination. In other countries a 3 minute delay is "catastrophic lateness" and the cars all look brand new. What does? Owning property in a slum? They can't afford it themselves. As long as you are a good landlord, vet your tenants best you can and fix shit that breaks theyll be fine.

It'll be more difficult to get good tenants so I would put more aside a month from your cashflow for repairs, but other than that it's not a bad idea.

Unfortunately, I'm planning on moving in about 3 years (finish my PhD) so I'm not trying o get into real estate right now.

Ohhh you meant reits.
Yes, unfortunately, their nature as a publicly owned entity means their sole focus is profit for next quarter.

Even if you're a private landlord, your primary focus should be to make a profit. It's an investment. You're providing a service, not out of the goodness of your heart (otherwise you'd let them stay for whatever the mortgage is) but for profit.
Obviously you don't want to screw your tenants, but don't feel obligated to make their life better at your own expense. Everything in your real estate endeavors (and any investment) should ultimately make you more money, save your time, or make your life easier in some way.

Just as an anecdote, every time there's a mass sell off/ mass buy which causes prices to drop 1% or more in a few hours, it snowballs because people get scared they're missing out and jump on the bandwagon.

After hours there's very little trading going on and most people are pros not trading on their emotions so this inflation/deflation due to market panic goes away and the stock moves in the opposite direction of the pump/dump just a bit.

Maybe not every time, but as a rule, markets are emotional. This is an example of that.

hmm, it depends on where we want to start. Swaps have multiple uses, mainly to avoid government regulation in a legal way, but the premises is more simple than that. You swap returns for a set amount of time. That’s it, all there is to it. But it’s deceptively simple, this lets you transform all sorts of risk and duration into other risks and durations. Your 30-year mortgage might have a bleak outlook, but through the power of turning it into a bundled bond, selling a CDS on that bond, loaning out the bond to overnight markets, and then turning around and selling the cashflow on that CDS to a money market fund, you’ve now created a supposedly zero risk product that’s increased the corporate money supply by the cost of your mortgage. There’s $500,000 more money market fund shares volume to throw around and complete a merger or acquisition with. It gets more complicated, but it’s very simple at its core, you’re holding an asset but giving the returns on it to someone else while they give you the returns of a different asset.

That’s just the best example, 2008 wasn’t scary because mortgage bonds collapsed necessarily, it was scary because the fixed income legs from insuring those mortgages was in every single corporate cash account. If those default, corporations are suddenly left with 40% less cash then they had before. It only gets complex because risk can be partially divided up. We have learned from that, we learned that the fed will print even more money if you buy riskier cash holdings. This is absolutely true and what i've been saying for like 3 years now.
Our economy is built on debt. The numbers in your bank account are tied to dollar bills in someone else's bank account. Money is literally not real. Fractional reserve banking and quantitative easing basically make everyone's total number of dollars go up, but the collective debt also goes up bu the same amount. Eventually this will break, probably due to inflation to the point where dollars become worthless, then essentially all the dollars will go up to the couple thousand people who own literally everything, then the economy will crash, no one will have any money, except the people who made literally trillions of inflated worthless dollars and then the dollar will suddenly be worth something (as the financial system essentially resets because literally everyone goes bankrupt), but now like 10,000 people have 99% of the dollars and the rest of us will be fighting over the other 1% of dollars and there's fuck all you and I can do about it.

The only way to protect yourself from slavery is by acquiring assets while it's still possible so that when everything goes to shit, you get some of the flow to the owners, so you can have just enough money to be the modern equivalent of a hedge knight or a steward in the new feudal system that will emerge when like 10000 people control everything.

We're so fucked.

It's needed so that youtube actually recommends their video to new users

i gave in and made an account so i could "don't recommend this channel".

my point still stands. why even have a yt account? i literally just bookmark videos or google them and watch them when i want. i've never had a yt account. subscribing just sounds like some gay fetish.

i have it on a email burner account so it doesn't spam my real email. but if you're subscribed it'll put it at the top of your recommended videos when a new one comes out.
i've only used it for one channel though

You actually have to ring the bell to get notifications like that. I subscribe to channels so I can use the youtube.com/feed/subscriptions page to just see new videos from those channels.

The amount of money that the creator gets paid per ad on the video is X*Y*Z where X is some fixed dollar amount they change from year to year, Y is the number of views, but Z is the number of subscriptions.

I think its more about demographics and what types of ads run, views from children are worth much more, views from older men are almost worth nothing.
I didn't think subscriptions had any effect.
