Well, considering I don;t know anything about silver ETFs, I will just say you need to consider if you want the ETF to be based on the "paper price" of silver (they have no actual silver), or they buy millions of ounces of silver to have actual silver represent their investments? There are those that want to claim real silver, and those that just want exposure to paper prices and do not want the metal. Sprott buys the real metal, silver (PSLV) and gold (PHYS). Other ETFs are just paper and the paper price is controlled. Try buying real silver for the paper price and see how that goes. I am being a bit vauge because there are so many "experts" to give you advice, but you need to research for yourself.

Royalty Streaming Companies -
We don't discuss these enough. Investing in individual mines carries a lot of risk, so why not buy stock in royalty streaming companies. They loan money to development projects, or active mines for a cut of metal, product or profit. I invested in Empress Royalty (yes, I know the CEO is woman), but Rick Rule just invested $2 million, so that gives me some confidence there is room to grow, and based on their portfolio of precious metal mines, there is room for reasonable growth.

A second company I am still evaluating is Electric Royalties where the invest in lithium, vanadium, manganese, tin, graphite, cobalt, nickel, and copper. And, with Tesla and several other new electric car companies and the big existing automakers investing heavily in the electric car market, it seems like there is going to be a significant increase in EV battery manufacturing for new cars and for replacement batteries.

So, why not let the royalty companies do all the DD and build a diversified portfolio then buy the stock in the royalty companies? There are already numerous precious metal royalty companies with stock prices from about $30 to $100+, so these are well developed and the potential for 2x-10x are with the new companies.

>> No.52881932

>>52881365
You don't get anywhere near the same leverage in royalty companies that you get in miners. And many of these royalty companies are pretty highly valued. Competition has also increased exponentially so I don't think they will see the same returns they have in the past. The concept is very comfy though.

I did not see any real room for growth from their portfolio. Pic is SAND on top MTA on bottom. If you bought MTA at $0.04 and sold about $10.00 you did well, but it looks like the big investors knew to make the play. Its good to have insider info. Once the royalty company is receiving the metal or money their stock price should have already risen, you need to evaluate their investments that are one to two years out to see what their revenue will be if the project works out, then buy and hold depending on your time frame. Look at who the board members are - did they already start their own successful business then are duplicating the approach with a new start up, like Empress, or possibly Electric Royalties. Do your own research, look at their projects, do your own calcs on what stock price is and what it could be.

And while today’s prices are no longer in the neighborhood of the all-time record, over $8,000 per ton is still much higher that the metal’s 10-year average of $6,750. As fears of a recession continued to grow in the past couple of months, the prices still went up by almost 10%.

As Bloomberg’s Javier Blas said, “if not for the slowdown, copper prices would be much higher. That also means that when economic growth accelerates, perhaps toward the second half of 2023 or early 2024, copper prices could jump, and by quite a lot.”

Oil in general seems like it should be in a buy zone right now. Depends on demand destruction but seems like demand is still strong relative to supply, and rigs are plateauing. Cyclical bottom as well, demand should be stronger in Summer. An interesting idea is also AECO (Alberta/B.C. natgas). AECO is fundamentally much cheaper than other benchmarks due to the abundance of gas on Western Canadian soil as well as lack of sufficient infra for it to be able to reach other markets and catch arbitrage. But next year the Coastal GasLink pipeline will be finished and 2.1Bcf/d (21.7Bcm/year) will be supplying a new LNG facility in B.C., this should increase demand for AECO and the price arbitrage should put upwards pressure on the price.

Copper and iron ore interest me. I traded VALE a bit recently and made a little bit of money. I really like the iron ore companies. Big stable dividend payers, and China opening up should improve iron ore and steel fundamentals. By extension that should also be great for coke of course. And thermal coal too should be great.

Really many good opportunities right now. But risks are also high. Q1 could be bumpy but 2023 as a whole looks like a shortage-ridden year as well. Really exciting and scary times. No matter what the commodities do I however recommend everybody to have a lot of cash and gold and try buying puts on some shitty overvalued tech companies.

their kind of stuck development wise without the Huckleberry Mine / Mill site belonging to Imperial Metals. Imperial Metals (aka the guys who wrecked BCs deepest lake) are mud now and need to get Huckleberry going again from being mothballed to bring in some much needed funds, the issue is no one will work for them. As such both parties are stuck. Surge wants Huckleberry for their project, Imperial wants to operate it again as their own, and doesnt want to partner or sell. It would be extremely expensive to build a totally new mill site for Surge, but it is doable, it just would change a lot of the economics drastically.

>> No.52889649

>>52889260
Iirc surge doesn't have deep enough pockets for that shit and you don't just buy a mill. They aren't exactly sitting around unused nor can they be built in a hurry. What are the odds they can pull their heads out of each other's asses by end of 2024? Undisturbed the ground could gain tremendous value in that time period anyway
Fucking mining would be easier if it weren't for miners doing the mining. Proudest bunch of roughnecks out there.

>> No.52889845

fuck thats accurate, yea it depends what copper does and how desperate Imperial gets. Imperial Metals needs a "win" right now corporate wise, they need Huckleberry back to bring them back to what they were but its not happening for a while with how hard its been for them to hire. Not only that they have to drain their previous open pit to begin work on their known reserves and that will take serious work as well.

Surge has all the advantages here, they have all the ground tied up around huckleberry and they have excellent drill results. They have the easy to access resource without a mill. Both parties will at some point get around to partnering i am sure, especially if Imperial wants to stay in business in BC.

Then you know already. I'm not up muh chemistry but, from my personal experience in the military, nickel is the battery of the future. Whatever they ve been running for decades is what we will eventually run. They last forever, hold deep cycle amperage during the most extreme of climates and conditions, and take charges up to the mid 90s for like 40 years.

in the modern sense Huckleberry could operate for another 12 years (depending on the price of copper and grade consistency in pit) but actually doing that right now is sketchy. Surge has the ground they staked themselves and land they optioned off Centerra (Berg and Bergette) making them a formidable land holder for the region. They have every intention to explore and develop their property, and they have the cream of the crop to work with.

They have at best 12 years left with Huckleberry mines known reserves if memory serves me, but its all down to if they can make it financially viable to actually operate. Imperial has their Mt Polley Mine operating right now, as well as a chunk of Red Chris in their ownership too, however their still not really in the black yet and want Huckleberry operating again as a final "return to form" sort of thing.

there were a number of nearby prospects that Imperial could go and explore and possibly exploit near the Huckleberry Minesite, but they kind of fucked up and let the best of the best go to Surge, their left with a number of smaller / lower grade / lower value targets or targets that will probably end up being to deep to open pit operate. Not only that, Imperial Metals doesnt have the best relationship with the local native bands, where as Surge Copper actively cultivated a relationship. Imperial Metals would have an absolute nightmare of a task exploring and building a new mine based off of Huckleberry with how their reputation is now.

from the article
>Caspar Rawles, chief data officer at specialist consultancy Benchmark Mineral Intelligence (BMI), said that while Russia accounts for 5% of global nickel production, it supplies about 20% of the world's high-grade nickel.

>The metal is used to make batteries for electric vehicles (EVs), posing a fresh challenge for carmakers already investing billions to move away for combustion engines just as demand for zero-emission models is starting to take off.

>Some of Russia's high-grade nickel will probably end up in China, which is unlikely to impose sanctions on Russia, but this all comes at a time when carmakers are facing rising bills for other EV battery minerals as demand outstrips supply.

>"That's the main concern for the battery supply chain in that you've got record high lithium prices, and very, very high cobalt and nickel prices," Rawles said. "This is just adding to battery mineral woes."

>Nickel is a critical ingredient in the lithium-ion battery cells used in most electric vehicles sold in — and planned for — the U.S. market. Its abrupt price surge has analysts and investors raising hard questions about automakers’ ambitious electric-vehicle programs.

>Morgan Stanley auto analyst Adam Jonas has been among the loudest voices raising concerns. In a note published Monday, he said: “As of this writing, nickel is up 67.2% just today, representing around a $1,000 increase in the input cost of an average EV in the U.S.”

>Jonas wrote that investors should reduce their expectations for automakers’ earnings, and for electric-vehicle sales penetration over the next few years, as nickel’s abrupt price surge could undermine the ambitious EV plans put forth by global automakers including General Motors
and Ford

It's still 10-15 years away, if not more. The recent news doesn't change this. A fusion energy ecosystem would still rely heavily on a fission power foundation to supply input energy and for synthesizing the tritium fuel, the later of which has not been proven to be economically viable yet.

Yes, the market is retarded and uranium will probably sell off more because "muh fusion". But at some point the big funds will jump back into uranium because that's the only viable short, mid and honestly long term solution to the energy crisis. Fusion power is just an add-on to fission if we ever get to that point.

Pretty interesting interview with Rick Rule because he finally said few cold truths. He said that out of 70 Uranium juniors only 15 are viable.
And only 10-15 out of all of the stocks are sensibly priced, which is calculated at $60 Uranium price.
So even after falling quite a bit the uranium sector is still overvalued as shit and only few of them even make sense to begin with.
He also said that in 2-3 years he sees them going from reasonably priced to cheap and he's now sitting on an ample supply of cash waiting for the prices to come down.
Pretty sure he's been sitting on cash for a good while now, just hasn't mentioned it because people wouldn't have bought his bags otherwise. Now he has unloaded so he can say these things.

Considering how many of the U stocks went 10x-30x over the years, they're still high and have a lot of potential to fall. I totally agree with his time frame.
People made so much money in them that these stocks aren't in any hurry to go up again and institutions still haven't stepped into this sector and we have another leg down coming in the greater markets next year.
Basically the sector is now full of baggies who bought into the highs and the thesis and we'll now watch the stocks slowly bleed out to retest some lows. Then in a year or two Rick is going to once more eat up the shares at low 2020 levels and takes another leg up.
Guess I'll consider jumping in when Cameco is at 10-15 next year.

Rick is now bullish on PMs because he expects a recession.
Don't know anything about that company, but Empress Royalty has a pretty attractive market cap.

>Renewable energy
Sun don't always shine
Wind don't always blow
The best we ever had was the 49ers and their kind building micro hydroelectric dams way up above where the fish could even climb to spawn.
One little town had electricity for fucking free because the headwaters we're far enough away from the stamp mills they had running that it was cheaper to give the town residents free power so you could park a pole on their property to run the damn power to the mill. So about 2/3 residents on the one little road had free electricity!
Imagine being able to afford a light bulb and not having to power it! Well you need the shit that moves the power to the bulb and mount the bulb and ground it. But yeah fucking super easy right?
Can't do that today. Sadly, climate racism fish belly supremacy

>> No.52909123

***Quick disclaimer***
>all the technologies needed to support a transition to 100 percent renewable electricity exist at commercial scale and equal or cheaper costs compared to fossil fuels
So by their own admission they don't need fossil fuels at all. Because the transition to renewable energies is actually cheaper than both the replacement of fossil fuels and the technology that isnt even discovered yet. The transition itself is so much more economical than it s fossil fuel predecessor that it will eventually devolve to simply renewable energy that's sustainable but somehow not as powerful as the forces that transitioned the entire global energy sector.

>The thing the ecologically illiterate don't realise about an ecosystem is that it's a system. A system! A system maintains a certain fluid stability that can be destroyed by a misstep in just one niche. A system has order, flowing from point to point. If something dams that flow, order collapses. The untrained might miss that collapse until it was too late. That's why the highest function of ecology is the understanding of consequences.

>What exactly are you looking at to develop you humble opinion?
Industry wide consolidation. Realization and capitalization of long term logistics and storage.
Localization? If I may? Canada's oil fields west of the great lakes, littered diagonally towards Alaska, represent the greatest demand for high quality white frac sand.
It's not inelastic but you'd have to be outstanding in some other variable than highest quality to replace the highest quality. If it takes twice as much lower grade sand, but they come from the same place, eventually the logistics alone would demand that you buy sand twice as good so you haul half as much.
So...
They dig white frac sand outside Blair Wisconsin and ship it via rail, outside Canada, mostly, TO TEXAS! And Texas has white frac sand that is high quality.

Even of these 15 supposed ones, it’s still a bit of a mess trying to sort out the few that may actually have the capacity for any kind of growth, despite demand actually ramping up. I’ll admit on my own part aside from just basic FA it’s hard for me to pin down a company’s trajectory, especially when it comes to commodities. At least with miners the prices are still so relatively low it’s easier to just scan the news related to them to see who’s had good mining results, aquired potential land hot spots etc. Uranium is just one I don’t confidently have enough knowledge of from the business or actual product side of it all. Not to mention that like you said, uranium as a commodity was memed to levels that make it hard to tell if you’re getting a fair price when you buy. Or at least a price that’s worth the risk/reward.

How realistic is owning a small iron ore mine in the US? Texas specifically? I have researched the land surveys and know where it is generally located. But is there even money in Iron? I want to use iron for projects (wrought iron for construction/decor, cast iron tools/items, etc) for medium scale companies. This is a long term idea, my lifetime, I just want to know what you guys think

Checked.

I had 10k in PDBC a while back, but I ended up selling because it only has an annual dividend + its exposure in commodity sectors lacks what I feel I want to have. I'm more confident in like base metals, coal, and fertilizers for 2023.

I'd rather own companies I know are making boat loads of free cash and are dedicated to raising consistent divvies.

my other main commodity divvies:
UAN
ARLP
CEIX
AFMJF

I dont think there are many small scale iron mines in general, iron is a bulk commodity that you really need huge scale deposits to operate from to make your margins work. That being said you could find a banded iron formation or something similar if your in the US east coast and use that as a source for project iron, but the processing and smelting would be extremely difficult to do without a larger facility. You can buy iron pellets too which are raw iron and make wrought iron or steels from, i ll see if i can find a link or two.

I haven't done it in a while but if you want good value or dividend stocks look at the holdings of Peter schiffs europacific funds. They are publicly listed, same with crescatt, Sprott, extetera. Literally a good investing strategy is pulling up etfs like gdx, Sprott, whatever and using their holdings lists as a starting point for research.

When these funds go up, they will give extra torque to the individual stocks. This is almost the entire strategy behind uranium insider. Silj owns gogold and abrasilver for example. Ii think impact silver used to be on there as well hut it might not be. Kootenay silver might be another overlooked one. We used to love it back in the day but they haven't done anything with it. I need to drag that dry suit out. I found an old lady on craigslist that has a super nice brand new pump, dredger, a floating work area to sluice. I wouldn't ever do that since it's illegal here. But if I had a nice fat hood on to keep from ice cream headaches, I know of a place on a set of falls I could drop into and move the overburden around then dredge out whatever was under that.
Side mount my tanks and just tie em off, switch them out ass needed. Until I was just too cold to take it. Would be a good summer project

personal vehicles are going to be priced out in favor of public transportation. There is no actual alternative. Americans can't stand sitting in the same small space as other americans so we burn 100x more energy to accommodate them. That's a luxury we're eventually going to lose.

the opposite actually.

People dislike public transportation so much that the government provides very little of it. When you do find 'public' transportation it's usually run by a private company for prices that as high or higher than owning and operating a car.

cars are hugely subsidized at this time. If we removed those subsidies most americans couldn't afford them already. But getting rid of them would require re-designing most american infrastructure and culture to the point where there'd almost certainly be revolution.

but this problem will fix itself slowly and naturally if we let it. We already see huge numbers of kids choosing not to drive. That fraction will presumably just grow over time as americans voluntarily give up cars because they'd rather spend their money on coffee and scarves.
