BTC won't be a security, many in the relevant positions have already signaled they think it belongs being designated as a commodity. Why? Because it's decentralized, doesn't have a company that issues it, and you aren't expecting to make a profit off of he work of others.

Everything else, though? Yeah, probably an unregistered security. They're centralized and issued by companies. Furthermore, every time you buy a shitcoin, or maybe not every time, but most of the time, you are acting as a passive investor, and are expecting to make a profit in the future based off of a third party (i.e, the company that issued the token). If you buy some shitcoin that is promising to solve some problem, or that is promising to have some utility in the future, then you are depending on the devs/company to do work in order for you to make a profit in the future.

In other words, anon, I'm, sorry, but the vast majority are unregistered securities. The real questions is, now what? I assume the SEC will layout some kind of reasonable framework and time scale for companies to register their tokens as securities. Those that comply will be okay, those that don't will get blocked on U.S exchanges, move offshore, and most likely die out.
