If I don't spend my monero for a few weeks, I have to wait 15-30 minutes before I can unlock my monero because the blockchain sync is slow as fuck. If I open my cold wallet which hasn't been synced in over 6 months, I'm waiting hours. For people that are spinning up their own node for the first time and getting started with their first monero, they're waiting a full day or more.

I don't really think that's acceptable for an everyday medium of exchange. Bitcoin has much slower block times when compared to monero, but as least with bitcoin I can open up my wallet and immediately start sending my transactions to the mempool.
