There is no doubt in my mind that they are scared to death of people finding out that some or all of their DRS can be categorized/kept 2 different ways. If you bought some straight from Computershare they are probably Plan. You can easily check them online. Says right by your share count.

But your shares need to be "Book" in order to count as DRS. Computershare did an AMA you can go look at where they say Book is the true DRS. You can read all about the specifics. Plan shares are not counted in the DRS numbers you just saw for Gamestop. They even keep some in the DTC to be loaned out.

It I'd super easy to change too. You can do everything online. You don't have to take the time to call and talk to someone. You have to terminate the existing "Plan" (itdoes nothing to your shares) and then it will let you change to Book. You cannot move fractional shares to Book. You have to either sell it or just keep less than one share in Plan. You can choose how many shared to change. That's it. Super easy and absolutely free. Then your shares will count. Again, Computershare said BOOK is the true form of DRS, which you can go verify yourself.

This info needs to be posted on reddit. Watch how the mods attack you. People start going crazy over this seemingly little detail. But everyone needs to know asap. That's right, the DRS numbers are higher than what we just heard from Gamestop. It's probably why RC tweeted he was the "BOOK KING". Get the word out.

Basically, this company had been fighting its shorts for a while, and they decided to end it by spinning off the shares in their shorted ticker (MMTLP) into a brand-new company.
This was supposed to happen on the 12th and all short positions were required to close by then. But then the regulating bodies, after approving the new ticker, showed their true hand a few days before the trading deadline, halting all trading of MMTLP until it is delisted the day after the 12th.
Now the future is uncertain but not set, people aren't sure yet where it being delisted means the shorts get off scot-free, or if they still have to close, that the halt might be lifted, etc.
The one thing MMTLP has got going for it right now is a C-Suite that was open about fighting shorts. Worst case scenario, lawsuits are started, dragging this thing out for years potentially, but it is being defended and fought for.
Anyways I'd wait until next week to see the fate of mylittlepony ticker, you can't even buy it anymore, so I see no harm in discussing it either.

Do keep in mind that it is highly illegal for synthetic shares to carry over into private companies. FINRA basically had a huge panic attack and halted it on a U3 order, which only happened 3 times as far as I know. But, the S1 MMAT filed for MMTLP stipulates they can hold off on the spinoff date. So the next step is to see what happens on Monday and what legal action MMAT takes as FINRA can be indited by a federal judge for going against its own regulations.
Wild stuff man, I just wanted my oil divi at $30-$80 a share, but fuck them hedgies. If it goes up for sale again to close shorts, they are paying up big time.

There's something you should look into, a mathematician named Richard Newton did a case study on retail ownership based on how many shares are DRS'd and brokerage'd owned. He implied that if retail investors own almost 2 billion dollars of the company through the direct registration system, then there's a strong correlation they may own almost 3 to 4 times as much by way of broker shares. Reasoning being that foreign investors have a harder time DRSing their shares, and ones even within our states simply don't know enough about CS to DRS.
If true, then we may have technically already locked up the float or are very close to doing so (if shares in brokerages are truly accounted for)
