I'm from Chile and I started trading cryptocurrencies some months ago, using the exchange SurBTC. There's a blog in the page's exchange where the devs post about different topics, one being the blockade done by all chilean banks during 2016 to the exchange, where (they) simple refused to allow any deposits from user's bank accounts to the exchange.
Like, if you tried to make a transfer from X bank to the exchange you simply couldn't. It started with 1 bank, then 2, and then almost every major bank in the country wasn't allowing deposits.
>“All of our business was being terribly affected and we did not know what to do. We were the perfect example of buying eggs, always going and coming away empty-handed. We begin to lose customers per hour. The problem is that it was no longer a 30% market share loss, but about 70%,” Guillermo Torrealba CEO of SurBTC wrote.
Here you can read the story:

Right now it looks like the issue is resolved, because, like I said, this year I was able to make deposits to the exchange without a problem. But I'm sharing this to show you how much cryptocurrencies scares the banks, and how (they) would (shut it down) if they could.

Yes, I fucking stated at the start of the post that it happened in 2016. So what? It still happened.
