Why would he say that shit?
Dude is a principal over at CB and he built a bunch of core services over at FB.
He also got into BTC back in 2011 and he’s rich af.
Is the tech behind monero not sound?
Is it a rugpull?

Monero dev team is simply too small for me to trust it long term.

BTC with coinjoin and other future privacy enhancements is good enough, and is much more likely to stock around long term.

And I can trade BTC for XMR on demand when I need to use Monero, so there's no need to hold it long term.

>BTC with coinjoin and other future privacy enhancements is good enough, and is much more likely to stock around long term.

lol if they were "good enough" Monero-only DNM markets and ransomware payments wouldn't be a thing now. The only people who believe this nonsense are clueless bagholders who don't understand the first thing about NetSec, OpSec and attack surfaces.

>And I can trade BTC for XMR on demand when I need to use Monero, so there's no need to hold it long term.

lol you hope, if your BTC is suspected of being tainted you might not find anybody willing to swap their pristine XMR coins with you.

>Monero dev team is simply too small for me to trust it long term.

We don't need to trust the devs. Monero has forked from the devs in the past, and it will fork again if they become malicious. If you want to participate in development, just join the community IRC. In monero, development work is funded directly through communal fundraising.

On the other hand bitcoin development has been completely captured and stalled by blockstream. open your damn eyes. This statement you make defaming monero development is
ludicrous if you know anything about bitcoin or monero development.

>BTC with coinjoin and other future privacy enhancements is good enough, and is much more likely to stock around long term.

It really isn't. CJ fails time and time again. You will get vanned if you try to use copejoin for serious business. Bitcoin is dangerous in the long term due to selfish mining attacks and the centralization inherent in ASIC mining and LN.

>And I can trade BTC for XMR on demand when I need to use Monero, so there's no need to hold it long term

fair enough. I am a monero user but I do not recommend people "invest" in monero. It should be used as cash not as speculative investment.

So what? Pedigree means fuckall here.

I guarantee he didn't stumble upon something that someone else didn't already think of. If he was an OG bitcoiner and doesn't at least like the IDEA of monero, he has lost his way through greed. Sound, private money. Separation of state and currency.

It's never been about anything else.

The larger a dev team, the more people they higher, the higher the risk of the project being compromised.

I am a staff engineer at FAANG with 10+ years of experience in software. I agree with your friend, XMR is bullshit.
> Ring signatures is an inferior technology, zk-snarks are years ahead. AI will easily break monero's privacy in the near future
> No smart contracts whatsoever. It's even dumber than BTC since you can't even do multisig or timelocks properly, which means you can't even implement an escrow
> Chain grows exponentially. This isn't a problem now, but in a few years you'll need entire datacenters to store the Monero blockchain and it will take a few days to sync up your wallet. Monero just doesn't scale.
> PoW is dumb and leads to centralization. ASICs are inevitable and Monero needs to hard fork to stay ahead of them. Most of Monero is mined by botnets. Monero is making no attempt to explore PoS
> Tail emissions. It's an inflationary coin, no matter how you are trying to spin it. The amount of XMR grows with time, thus it is inflationary.

Somewhere along the way, with the legions of moonboys and scammers, most forgot the entire point of cryptocurrencies. Monero may be the only crypto being used for its intended function. Almost everything else is just a vehicle for speculation and gambling

Don’t forget to leave your XMR for 24h before sending it from the time of receiving. Otherwise it can be traced.

If the only time you use your currency is to swap to monero to actually use it then what the fuck is the point in it? Currencies only hold value because they're good at transacting so it really makes no sense.

If an entity controls a large enough chunk of supply or nodes (or even internet infrastructure) they can easily make this a giant honeypot.
I think it's naive to think the guys who can literally print money, those who run fiat, do not have enough resources to do so, should they please.
