Buying has been enabled.

NORMIES ARE PUMPING THIS. 4K NOW AND CONTINUING.

I don’t care about this BTV vs BCC/BCH war. I’m in it to make money. The only ones negative about this are the no coiners or the ones that can’t afford to buy anything.

Coinbase is now enabled for buys. I just tried testing it out. Originally it was only GDAX. Coinbase enabled buys.

I called this earlier. They weren’t gonna enabled buys until 5 because of insider trading suspicions. The SEC was monitoring them. As soon as their employees leave the building, they have no control over them. Not to mention the abundance of normies getting out of work as well.

Bitmain doesn't want Segwit because it fixes the exploit they use in their patented AsicBoost shit. They're literally shilling BCH because they want to keep people using their hardware. Since using that exploit is more efficient, that hardware is more popular. USD/BCH buys have been temporarily suspended. If you were watching the order book at the time, you'd see that within 10 minutes from enabling, they were going to run out of BCH again.Huge sell walls, blanked out in seconds.

When this is enabled, BCH will go to $6K almost instantly.

They are keeping it off for lack of liquidity.

It would be higher than 6k now if they'd have left it on.

If you have BCH, put it on GDAX now and set a sell for $6-8K if you don't want to hold it. It will get filled within 24 hours.

I think you didn't understand what Bitcoin was all about in the first place. It was understood and conecepted as a storage of wealth, a sort of digital version of real gold. If you stored your wealth in gold would you transport it on a daily basis? Probably not. Probably not even once a year. That's what bitcoin is about. It was never intended as a payment coin or anything like that. It's a store of value which you store securely and only use and transfer if you really have to. For anyone who missed this shitty shilling attempt. The person shilling here actually INTENTIONALLY didn't quote me because they don't want people to understand why ASICs make a network more secure in comparison to shitcoins being mined with GPU and CPUs. There is a considerable stake in the health of the network when buying an ASIC miner, you have to make sure the network survives or your investment is useless. AsicBoost does not work with Segwit. It's not an intentional fix, but that's why Bitmain doesn't want Segwit.

ASICs aren't the problem. It's that it's patented, which gives him control over the market for over a decade.

The problem isn't that the mining hardware is centralized (that's a problem, but less of one). It's that it's centralized and Bitmain ADDS A BACKDOOR TO THEIR HARDWARE. If the majority of the network is using their ASIC miners, then they can shut them all down with the backdoor, then bring their own ASIC miners online (because they manufacture them) and own the network.

BCH pretty much just did two things: Increase the block size to a max of 8MB and remove the "Replace-by-Fee" feature. The former clears up the transaction backlog, but is a shitty solution because it wont work longterm. They'll have to keep increasing the blocksize until they get to 1 terabyte blocks every ten minutes (seriously) before they can process a similar amount of transactions as Visa. This means that only incredibly wealthy people and big businesses will be able to run full Bitcoin Cash nodes. Removing "Replace-by-Fee" also makes BCH "faster". Replace-by-Fee is what allows you to resend a transaction with a larger fee if you put a low enough fee that it will never complete. It makes things "faster" because it prevents people from double spending (unless someone controls most of the full nodes, as in the 1TB scenario) without waiting for additional confirmations. The problem is that if BCH ever gets saturated to the point that your transaction wont complete without a larger fee you will literally LOSE YOUR MONEY FOREVER in the case of that transaction because you can't resend it.

To make matters worse, the only way Bcash can fix the problem they'll have with huge block sizes is to implement something like the Lightning Network, which is what Bitcoin is currently doing. This means that at some point Bcash WILL be deprecated because their transactions will be slower than Lightning, and Lightning will allow Visa levels of transactions without resorting to something ridiculous like 1TB block sizes. Lightning will also allow atomic swaps, which are instant swaps between all coins that support Segwit (e.g. between BTC and LTC). And anyone can run a Lightning node, just like a Bitcoin node. What this means that as soon as Lightning is deployed, nobody will have any use for Bcash anymore. It will be pointless. And both Bitcoin and Litecoin will go to the moon because they'll be easily interchangeable without an exchange.

BTC on the other doesn't really work well at all currently, so I'm hedging my bets on BCH short term, and will reevaluate as LN nears, though it does seem a rather centralized solution. If hardware keeps pace with BCH's blocks, we may never see the problems that the referenced anon pointed out.

The problem is that switching between coins is a pain in the ass currently. It requires an intermediary exchange, will likely take a long time, and will also cost you money to do so in fees. So people try to focus on one coin as being the dominant coin that everyone uses, with all the others being competition. The Lightning Network will mostly solve this for SegWit coins. Bitcoin and Litecoin wont be competing with eachother anymore because you'll be able to swap them instantly with zero fees. Bcash on the other hand will still require fees for transactions and an exchange to swap coins because it's incompatible with Lightning.

>>5287234
>Why do people /want/ bitcoin though?
Marketing, mostly. Litecoin has been faster than Bitcoin for a very long time because it generates blocks every 2.5 minutes instead of every 10. >BTC on the other doesn't really work well at all currently
Some of us are angry about this because it was a coordinated effort to make Bitcoin "not work". SegWit is a viable solution. It is already implemented. But people like Ver convinced others it was bad because they wanted to fork Bitcoin and take control. The fact of the matter is, there are only about 5-6 transactions per second happening with Bitcoin currently. SegWit gives it the capacity for 11 transactions per second, so it would have room to double in size before it was limited again. In the meantime, Lightning will be released and solve the issues of transaction speed (instant transactions), privacy (transactions aren't on the blockchain and are private), cost (no transaction fees), and competition (atomic swaps between SegWit coins). SegWit is REQUIRED for this to work. And Ver is trying to prevent SegWit from happening. Coinbase STILL hasn't implemented it. They could easily. The three man team at the literally who service coinmall.com implemented SegWit in ONE DAY. It's intentional on Coinbase and any other exchange that hasn't implemented it, entirely for political purposes.

If people actually gave a fuck about spending crypto right now you would see full blocks on alts. You don't. Heck nobody is even using bcash shit is 90% empty. First off, the other anon is wrong. Litecoin has a blocksize limit of 1MB just like Bitcoin. It also support SegWit like Bitcoin, which ups that to 1.7MB. Litecoin does make blocks quicker though. It makes a new block every 2.5 minutes instead of every 10 minutes like Bitcoin. That's what makes it faster. But that's not why Litecoin was created. It was created around the time ASIC miners were being developed for Bitcoin. Litecoin uses scrypt instead of SHA-256. Scrypt is much more difficult to implement in an ASIC. This allowed people to still use their old mining rigs for a while, until new ASICs were developed for Litecoin. So to make a long story short, people don't shit on Litecoin because it was created to suit a purpose instead of to be disruptive. I wouldn't mind Bcash at all if SegWit didn't exist.

Oh, you'll just have to hardfork, which isn't a problem at this time since BCH hardforks regularly to increase the block cap, and remove the hard cap of 21 million so that there will always be block rewards for miners, aka Jihan. And now you know why bcash will either face the exact same fee problems as BTC or will give up on being deflationary. I don't really understand this issue because the Lightning Network is optional. Most people will use it because it has a ton of advantages (e.g. private transactions) but you don't have to if you don't want to. Because most people are using it you will still get the benefits of less congestion.

Perhaps it's more idealogical than anything. It's just a move in the wrong direction IMHO.

Like why the Free Software Foundation won't endorse Debian because it has a nonfree version, I won't endorse BTC because it has a centralized option. I know this doesn't matter and it's not a reasonable arguement, but crypto was always intended to be decentralized and it just rustles my freetard jimmies.

>> No.5289255

Do you not use cryptocurrency exchanges? Because those are far, far more centralized than Lightning. If anything, the atomic swap capability of Lightning is a push towards decentralization because you don't need to trust a central exchange with your money to perform a swap.

I do, but this doesn't have anything to do with the crypto technology. I'd use a decentralized exchange in a heartbeat if there was a good one available.

I draw a fine line between my idealogy and my investing too, ofc. LN is not the only way toward a decentralized exchange though, for the record. So to call a push toward decentralization for that reason is a bit of a stretch.

>> No.5289714

Lightning may not be the only method of decentralizing an exchange, but it also solves a lot of problems along with it. Private transactions are a big one for me. I don't like that my transactions are permanently traceable on the blockchain. So in the end, I think Lightning is the best method that has been proposed thus far. And since it's entirely optional, we can always use something else if it arises. Either way, I'd say it's a huge improvement over trusting an exchange. If you think otherwise, well, go tell that to one of the people that killed themselves over MtGox.
