Yes, but it's a solution if the hardware wallet prevents someone from staking. Also if you know what you're doing you don't really need a hww to be safe. For noobs it's definitely the recommended option tho. And for wallets that you use often. Staking or holding big amounts there are other factors that are more important

If we want to get technical with IRS language, the smart contract is the one doing the transferring initially from a wallet you do not have control over. Once the LINK is in YOUR wallet, then you can transfer the actual tokens. What if there was an undelegation period like with other crypto? If it took 1 month from the time you clicked "withdraw," at what point do you gain control of the funds? When they hit your wallet or when you click "withdraw?"

My interpretation is that the rewards become taxable at the earliest possible time that you could have transferred to a wallet you own and sold/disposed/whatever, even if you made the choice not to do so at that time. If you earn 1 token in rewards, but choose not to withdraw it immediately, the fact remains that you COULD HAVE done so immediately and therefore you have control over that token. Another phrase the IRS uses is "complete dominion," which applies here since the decision on what happens with that token rests entirely in your hands, regardless if it's in a wallet you own, or being held in by a smart contract.

Introducing a withdrawal delay of 1 month to the equation is interesting. In that case the earliest possible time you could have gained complete dominion over the reward is the exact date you COULD HAVE clicked withdraw + 1 month.

I'll be interested to see what the IRS decides on this matter once they finally release some clear guidance on the subject. Until then, I'm not willing to potentially get fucked for 4.75% APR.
