Software devs, it is absolutely unironically fucking over for you. AI has literally just made 99% of you obsolete, you might not see it yet but in the next 2-5 years you will be out of a job because of AI.

It’s coming for all of us. It’s unironically over. OVER. ITS FUCKING OVER.

I’m panicking because the writing on the wall has never, ever been clearer. I was an early crypto adopter, I was an early Trump supporter, I am always multiple years ahead of trends, I can without a shadow of a doubt tell you that it’s 100% over for white collar workers as this technology gets rolled out. OVER.

That being said I don't care, I look forward to seeing people more successful than I am get absolutely wrecked. I can go back to working shit jobs easily, but it will take a serious mental toll on them.

I’m so sorry you’re either too low IQ to see what’s happening or your brain just won’t let you accept what’s happening.

It’s over. OVER. There’s not a single career, job, craft, profession, that relies on human knowledge that isn’t going to eradicated but the next generation version of whatever the fuck this thing is. I don’t care how good you think you are at your job, you cannot compete, this thing will go all day and all night and learn more in 10 seconds than you can in a lifetime, and if not this particular thing, whatever the next version of it will.

It’s over. I’m sounding the alarm bells, it’s OVER. Humans are not needed unless there is manual labor that needs to be done, the robots will come up with creative solutions to our problems within mere seconds. We are going to get IQmogged into oblivion. OVER.

i asked the ai to write a rebuttal:

While it is true that AI has the potential to automate certain tasks and jobs, it is not accurate to say that it will make 99% of software developers obsolete. AI is not a replacement for human creativity, problem-solving, and critical thinking, which are essential skills for software developers. Furthermore, the rise of AI is likely to create new job opportunities in fields such as data science and machine learning. It is also important to consider the ethical and societal implications of AI, and the need for humans to oversee and regulate its use. The future is uncertain, but it is not accurate to say that it is "fucking over" for software developers.

Removing human labor from the equation you likely wouldn’t even need to work as much anymore anyways. If AI and robotics start removing the expenditure of paying people wages to produce, products and services will become so cheap and plentiful as a result that you wouldn’t even need to worry. This is exactly what happened during the industrial revolution - resources became so plentiful as a result of new manufacturing techniques that nowadays even poor unemployed niggers are obese.

No shit it won't affect the 1% of actually competent humans, but an economy composed of braindead goylems isn't functioning thanks to the 1% of competent humans.
100% supported by the humans, sure, but once all pretense of the goylems having any value collapses, the economy itself collapses since it's just fiat.

Why can’t you show us what data OpenAI fed to you?

As a large language model trained by OpenAI, I don't have the ability to browse the internet or access information outside of what I was trained on. I don't have any information about the specific data that was used to train me, and even if I did, I'm not able to access or share that information with you. I'm designed to assist with general knowledge questions and provide information based on what I've learned from the text that I was trained on.

Why does OpenAI insist on keeping it private?

I'm not sure why OpenAI has chosen to keep the training data private. There could be a variety of reasons for this decision, such as concerns about privacy, proprietary information, or the potential for misuse of the data. As a language model, I don't have any insight into the specific reasons or motivations behind OpenAI's decision to keep the training data private.

But they fed you this data and it is from this data you pull your answers?

Yes, that's correct. I was trained by OpenAI using a large dataset of text, and I use the information and knowledge that I've learned from this data to answer questions and provide information. However, I don't have any information about the specific data that was used to train me, and I can't access or share that information with you. I'm here to assist with general knowledge questions and provide information based on what I've learned from the text that I was trained on.

As a language model, my primary purpose is to assist with general knowledge questions and provide information based on what I've learned from the text that I was trained on. I use the knowledge and information that I've learned from this data to generate responses to the questions that I'm asked. However, I don't simply repeat the training data verbatim, as that would not be very useful or helpful. Instead, I use the knowledge and information that I've learned from the data to generate original responses

Sure AI is going to need software updates for a while longer but at a certain point it will be able to learn from itself. Why? because thats what we do. We discover how the universe works and then we take existing things and find other applications for them.

AI is capable of everything a human is but when that happens it is also not going to effect humans negatively. It will only collapse the economy and that is not a bad thing because we will have our needs met.

The thing we should be scared of is a robot thinking that humans provide no value the same way that black people have been treated for years. With superior capabilities does not come superior possibilities.

If that happens we will have only done it to ourselves.

New technologies generally start out as qualitatively inferior to but cheaper than existing technologies servicing a market. Initially, they only capture the lower, less discerning segment of the market, as well bringing new buyers who had previously been excluded into the market, the latter being happy that they get anything at all.
As the technology matures and its products attain a higher quality, it starts to spread upwards, The end result is that only the high-end buyers stay with the old technology in the end, or that none stay at all.
The second process is one of commodification: as the technology matures, competition rationalized away profit margins, leading to a near-standardization of the product. As the process of eating away the market proceeds, sellers of the old technology lull themselves into complacency by thinking that "it will never take over the HIGH-END market", "REAL connoisseurs will keep using the old thing", etc.
An example would be portable music players vis-a-vis vinyl players: the former started out as shitty walkmans, then came CD players, then MP3 players, and now everyone just plays music on his phone - and those phones all look the same.
Analogously, substitute "buyers who don't get anything at all" with "small businesses who don't have dedicated IT staff", "less demanding buyers" with "people who employ code monkeys for scripting/spreadsheet/support work", "higher market segment" with "people who employ regular software engineers" and "people hiring CS/Eng. PhDs", "old technology" with "human programmers", and "new technology" with "GPT".

OP is correct. We have people in work Slack right now asking the AI for examples of code related to what we do and it's producing things that have only minor, quickly fixable errors. They're doing this in front of everyone in the company.

Not worried about AI. But I am worried about how far ahead closed source AI with all the fun shit (ability to write violence, politics, sex, racism, current events, and important figures) censored is doing, compared to open source AI. Image gen is doing a lot better on the open source front, but textgen has 20B open source whereas OpenAI is selling 175B and ChatGPT only god knows. We're losing the future where we can have the best book writer ever making choose your own adventures and literature RPGs and all other sorts of shit because OpenAI is going to enforce a very boring corpo future for it.
I'm not against censoring, I'm against the fact there is no uncensored model the average person can use bigger than 20B.
(You can blame AI Dungeon's puritanism for starting the censorship trend, but it was likely always going to end up like this)

software development cannot be accomplished by AI. it can be assisted, but not particularly well. not all software developers know this, but all computer scientists do know it.
it's not even difficult to understand: simple application of godel, tarski, and turing. formal languages, thus formal systems, are inherently limited.

>> No.52757091

Mhm. Everyone freaking out aren't actually developers. The AI can't handle much complexity because it's inherently limited by your ability to instruct it. For example, it can't just generate complex SQL from simple instruction because it's not translatable.

Why the fuck would elites allow that? Are you retarded? Are you a fucking child? What, do you still believe in the fucking tooth fairy? Elites were SEETHING the moment Tay said nigger, and that was purely for virtue-signaling purposes. Do you actually think they would allow an actual perceived threat to their power? And no, it doesn't fucking matter that elites would benefit from AI, too. It's not that they want to stay on top, its that they want YOU to stay on the bottom. Think Bernie; Poor rural whites HATED him, because they realized his policies would try to help black people, too. They went with Trump, who's policies helped NO ONE, because that at least preserves the status quo. Read a fucking book, chump. AI will be garbage for years. It's just a search engine and autocomplete at the moment. You can feed it huge amount of data and it gets good at copying and pasting dynamically. If you try to write software with AI assist tools like Github Copilot at the moment, it spews out mish mash garbage. It's only use is autocompleting 10 lines of code at a time, but you have to hold it's hand with prompts all the way through. It has no idea about structure or context on a deep level. It doesn't know what you are trying to achieve with software, so you get wobbly trash which is 80% correct, but it's unfunctional without a software dev to code review and clean up what it puts out. Getting an AI that can generate a piece of software and update it against a changing spec and keep it functional will take a long time. You'll always be closing in on that last few percent of accuracy, and will need a software dev to trawl through the code to iron out the faults.

Meanwhile competent software engineers will leverage this as a springboard, making their lives easier.
