i'm sure you could make that nominal amount as a senior principal engineer in 20-30 years due to accumulated inflation over time. math says 30 years of 4% raises gets you almost there. my experience is that good performance gets you 4-4.5% raises per year and you get a 5-10% raise for a promotion.
this isn't a roast on you but bay area tech companies really got peoples' expectations screwed up as far as what 95% of engineers actually make. you won't be making multiple six figures in your 20s.
right now i think the P5's (Sr. Prin level) and first level managers around me make 140-170k roughly? this is in rural nowhere. you'd have to be director level or higher to make 200-300k now i believe - aka managing hundreds to a few thousand people.

missed that. at my place and all the others i know of you'll have performance reviews at the end of every year, they give "merit" raises at the end of the year / beginning of new year (jan/feb) based on the manager feedback and peer reviews you get. it depends on your manager as far as how they divide up the budget for raises.
training at my place sucks ass, it's all on the fly so far (i joined in early 2020 so it was chaos). but to be honest, chances are you're never going to be the dumbest guy on the team.
you also won't be ripping out hundreds of lines of code a day if you're in as heavily-regulated area as i am, it's a lot of paperwork to say the least. it's heavily tested and there's senior+ guys reviewing most of it or talking about it with you.
if you spend a career there you'll probably end up making close to that by the end even if it only has the purchasing power of 150k today.

we hired in a senior with 20y experience and i was way better at software with 1-2y and i was mentoring him - not a flex, he just isn't good.

It's the family who pays for the funeral. The reason that SCI is one of my favorite stocks is because families pay a pre-need deposit to funeral homes like SCI.

SCI is able to literally invest in stocks and bonds with minimal restriction (unlike traditional companies who have restrictions on cash float investments) and that is why they are making tons of money.

SCI obviously has a bunch of bond and stock hedges / short positions because they have outperformed SPX by a huge amount.

So when grandma dies, grandma's family pay's SCI a deposit for a funeral event.

That deposit is invested by SCI into their investment portfolio.

And SCI has made a shit load of money off that money.

Not sure how well this works for a europoor but do a six month treasury. In six months the a&p will not be at ath. 430 would be seriously pushing it. You have an equal chance I would say in six months the s&p being down 10%. Rather than buying now and hoping you split the difference, buy six month treasuries and reevaluate over winter.

It's supposedly a massive dollar short waiting to get squozzled. I.e. a nasty feedback loop of dollar goes up, dollar debts get called in, shorts go 'buy' dollars at a huge loss by dumping dollar-denominated assets to get them, dollar spikes, panic, more dollar debts get called, etc etc. At least in theory. IMO while it would be a huge short-term flex by the US, it would also be a total own-goal. Dollar swaps could be extended to friends, but really the whole point is that our "friends" are Putin's customers, so their economies have to die because we desperately have to get him regime-changed, because he's trying to challenge to dollar etc etc.

High stakes game and potentially very self defeating. US arguably has no moves left but to double down. Personally, I've learned to stop underestimating how far US will go to try to stay hegemon, even if I don't think they'll pull it off, so them putting a torch to this kindling is v possible.
