I've been away from these threads for a while. I'm confused by all the doom and gloom. As I understand it, the current proposal is suggesting that we take half of the 0.02% burn tax and use it to fund the community pool. And there's concern that this will cause Binance to stop burning for some reason? Isn't their normal transaction fee 0.01%? So why wouldn't they just reduce the amount they burn per transaction to that instead of scrapping the idea altogether given how big of a horse CZ has in this race? The burn tax was never supposed to be the strategy upon which we realistically depended to reduce the supply in any reasonable amount of time as opposed to further developments to repeg USTC and enable swaps. ok im not a programmer so i cant explain it in an objectively satisfying way but what ive gathered is the way the algorithm worked is that the supply caps were connected. swapping luna for ust burned the luna and minted the ust, and vice versa. the ratio at which this occurred was calculated by the disparity ust held to the dollar peg, which resulted from market fluctuation. the idea was that you were incentivized to capitalize on price action from both and this movement keep the engine running.

TRs golden opportunity lies in reactivating the swap ONE WAY, so that lunc can be burned via swaps but not minted. due to the disparity of ustc to the dollar, the burning ratio is pretty insane. they need to revive the ecosystem to a degree though because otherwise theres no reason to swap for ustc.

I think the main issue is really with how murky the waters are here, especially when it comes to crypto. CZ is a careful man if nothing else can be said about him. Just think about how much the market reacted to Elon posting one tweet about DOGE. The argument can be made that Elon's businesses themselves don't really have a ton to do with crypto in general, but he still got sued over this anyway. Then take CZ who has created a multi-billion dollar crypto empire and owns the largest exchange in the world. Imagine if he Tweets "everyone should buy LUNC right fucking now." Heads would roll because you could argue that 1) CZ is trying to rack up fees on his exchange by encouraging a feeding frenzy (in LUNC's case it's getting burnt obviously but you get what I mean), and 2) you could argue that his only interest is using his influence to pump his own bags. The issue is further complicated by the fact that he's a Chinaman, so how far are regulating bodies like those in the US willing to go after him for market manipulation? Nobody really knows. If they want funding so bad, they should’ve reached out to all their contacts and tried to work something out. Whatever loans if funding that they have to pay back will ensure they put in the work to make sure lunc starts generating money, then they can pay back what they owe plus lunc can be self sustained at that point.
