Also, as an addendum, I was successfully able to use my linalg and calc skills to pivot to a role as a deep learning engineer and now I make nearly $200k a year with only 3.5 years in the field. Also I still work for a manufacturing company, and I get to combine some of my mechE skills with my ML skills.
