A lot of small towns are pushing/paying for internet, but when you get super rural, if cable doesn't run out there, you'll be stuck with 20mbps max if the phone lines are connected with a modern ISP or under 10mbps if not.

You can always get satellite internet tho for $100/mo

Rural as fuck here. Satellite is my only option. $200 a month for 30mbps and 100gb high speed data cap. After I pass that cap I'm lucky to get 4mbps until the cycle resets. Starlink isn't even available here yet. I work from home and only use my internet for downloading files for work, I watch YouTube on my phone since that has unlimited data. Hotspot gives me another 10gb of high speed from my phone. I don't game anymore since moving here, I have 3080rtx that is pretty much only used for editing now.

I moved to a comfy small town in Virginia about a decade ago and then had a moment of panic when I realized I hadn't thought about this at all. It turned out alright because there was one broadband provider. They did take about two weeks to run a cable to my house though. You should probably do some homework first on where you're looking.

I mostly played single player before moving out here but I've played everything worth playing. I've revisited all the classics a billion times and I have to save my high speed data for work so I have to plan when I'm going to download a game. And games these days are never smaller than 30gb. You can only play Thief so many times in a year.
