What's interesting is what comes next. The railroads, the government, etc. Understand that, while unionized, perhaps the members are not lockstep. They'll play for the team their on, but may not all for the same reason, or with the same vigor. Now, with the team "officially" banned from playing, the individuals COULD still participate at their own cost, but there is no longer a contractual bond holding together the less-enthusiastic-to-strike to those who really care. As we saw with the COVID horseshit from government actions, once rights were claimed as illegal, and pressured those who disagreed, the vast majority of the population went along with it simply because it was easier to do so and get on with their lives.

I predict we'll see about 20% of the railroad workers strike, similar to general pop distributions of NPC to PCs. Their protections revoked, the railroads will, well, railroad 1/5 of their workers, maintain reduced capacity, and make the bet the coming macroeconomic factors will solve the labor shortage. The government understands that a full supply chain freeze would likely cause riots, but the slow boil of things getting more expensive has already been accepted, so the reduction in capacity and subsequent increase in "inflation" is an acceptable compromise to their lobbyists.

The only wildcard is if individuals in that 20% finally accept there is no political solution and begin sabotage. If too few individuals do so, it can easily either be swept under the rug or granted a media firestorm branding them the "worst terrorists since Jan 6 zomg". But if a critical mass of those individuals act quickly enough, they can cripple the rail lines to thwart the govt's compromise. The question I ask from all of this is "how many Men finally accept what must be done?"

This is the first time in years that unions could actually threaten strikes because all the other years the government just threatened the unions with flooding the markets with immigrants. They can't do that recently because of the low numbers of immigrants due to covid.
