Yeah being assigned sucks, but you can always re-buy the call if the position is large enough to warrant it. If you are trying to hedge against losses with a position that is large enough to warrant tax considerations I would rather buy puts so I dont have to sell.

Covered calls are for shitty stocks that I think are stabilized eg blackberry. I bought on the way down in october and my calls basically become worthless overnight so free 5% gain. And now blackberry is already back up to where I wrote calls again.

Covered calls are for high premiums only. I dont get this meme implying they are low gains for massive risk. 5% monthly is massive.

You can always do rolling strike prices too. If you have 1 million in stocks you can write calls for $200,000 worth instead of all at once. And that $200,000 covered amount can all be at different prices. Eventually you get assigned and sell an amount that wont fuck you. If these are long term holds you really dont mind because it's only at 15-20% taxes.

I've looked everywhere but so far nothing tells me how they actually work out taxes.

I mean, down here you can just about ignore them unless you have an actual business or make a ton of cash.

Most of the time taxes are just retained by whatever is moving money around but since this is foreign stuff every video only shows how to find the pdf's generated by the app.

Or you can do what I did and buy spy at the top, sell covered calls, market goes down 30% and now all the strikes to pick have you selling your shares for a loss. So yes it can be risky if the stock slides like it did for me. But I was an idiot for buying at the top I suppose. But whatever I'm new at this. But idk I'm tempted to sell covered calls on my managed account but the ETFs I'm in have very low option activity so it's not even worth it.

>you reduced your cost basis by the premium you got
Yea but you can't keep selling safe covered calls when it's down. You are risking parting with those shares at a loss in order to collect said premium. Let's say I buy 100 shares of spy at $470 and now here we are at $395. If I'm selling monthly cc's the premium on the calls with strikes above $470 are going to be nothing because it's so OTM. But if I pick a strike for anything less than that I run the risk of selling for a loss. Why would anyone want to sell SPY for a loss just because they "lowered their cost basis" with the premium collected on the CC. The premium is peanuts

Who think they are staring in the next movie The Most Obvious Crash.

Synopsis of the FLIM: Everyone thought the markets were going to crash. But one man. A contrarian named PEPE thought otherwise. He took risks when everyone else wouldn't. He saw what everyone could not see. His calculated bets paid off big time. He took full advantage of the impending economic collapse everyone was expecting. all patterns are derived from the relationship of numbers but from where are numbers derived? they are derived from the abyss. the state of non-being and being. you can not recognize form, property or state outside the boundary of the square. through chaos, order was born.

zero dimension begot 1 dimension
the point begot the line, the line begot the triangle

the line also begot the circle as the curve of pi 3.14 and other golden ratio/holy numbers are applied.

Long companies that use roided out freaks (male or "female") for advertising. It's wildly effective even if it's in part directly responsible for the explosion of troons and weak men nowadays as well as fucking up chicks with wildly unhealthy body standards. Turns out eugenics is as simple as making people think they're ugly, getting them fat with goyslop so they know and feel that they're ugly, and then pumping them full of mind altering chemicals that make it impossible to accept being ugly as anything other than a case for suicide.

Granted you'd be selling your soul for troonery just because it's profitable in an esg environment, but I'm not going to pretend everyone here wouldn't piss in the others veins if they made 20$ in the process.

Oh. Our utilities went WAAYYYY up. And I can't get groceries (or gas) without paying well over 100$. It's been like this for months now, but for whatever reason, it's feeling worse as of late. We just decided that we're going to cut way back, yet others are still spending for Christmas and shit? We live in a tech city so people are constantly eating out and spending here; still, noticed a significant reduction over the past couple months.
Maybe this catches up with us eventually? If the Fed reverses rates, then we're fucked forever.

The Daily Mail reports:

Since the crash that killed Taran happened in good, clear weather – and after another passenger reportedly cancelled last minute – mystery now surrounds the billionaire’s death.

Taran, the co-founder of trading and investment platform Libertex and Forex Club, was flying from Lausanne with an experience pilot in a single-engined H130 helicopter when it crashed at around 1pm on November 25.

A 35-year-old French pilot was also killed.

Hollywood, IG, tiktok, and the internet in general are responsible for exposing all of us to unrealistic roided, breast implanted, genetic 1% physiques daily in such a way that soul crushing expectations embed themselves in our psyches and add another nail in the coffin of our psychological well being as a species. It's the height of materialism. A shame because a sexy body when appreciated in a less vapid, less American perspective could be a pillar of a healthy worldview and even spirituality. But like the other anon says, you pair unrealistic expectations with predatory capitalism and a modern world that cripples men from birth and you unfortunately just end up with broken hearts and inadequacy.
