If you're buying a call that's close to being ITM and between a month to a year out (and already have a big enough position to be playing around with the several grand that could cost knowing you could lose it all and instead bought shares straight-up) then it's fine. I'd recommend not holding your shares in your broker that you're using for options, because being options approved means you're on margin which means you basically hold nothing if the broker decides as much. Options are however the definition of "if you have to ask, you can't afford it" and I'd recommend doing a year or two of paper trading before starting to fuck around with them. They're a license to lose money 95% of the time.
