As an asset class, precious metals have the most enduring memetic power: people have been using silver and gold as money for literally thousands of years.
Only buy strong memes, reject all weak memes. Paper fiat, paper "metals", or Dogecoin? No thank you! Physical delivery (pic rel) is the way.

Silver isn’t even in the top ten of most used industrial metals.
steel, iron, copper, magnesium, aluminum, brass, zinc, bronze are way wasaaaaasye ahead of silver in usage.

>but precious metals

Silver is the ninth most used “precious” metal by value/weight behind rhodium, platinum, gold, ruthenium, iridium, osmium, palladium, rhenium.

If your thesis is usefulness then you should be “stacking” rhodium, platinum or gold well ahead of silver which is a byproduct of mining actually useful metals.

Is silver cool? Yes. Does it have uses? Yes. Is it the best? Not even kinda close. You’d be better off literally collecting can and melting them down into ingots than buying silver bars on the basis of desirability.

Well, are we here after fundamentals or are we here to make money? If silver is metal with most naked shorting then causing a short squeeze makes money even if silver itself is not "interesting" by any metric.
GameStop was not the most profitable company, did not have the biggest revenue, did not pay the best dividend, etc. But anons still squeezed it.

In fairness, no rational person would sink money into a non productive asset like physical gold and silver anyways.

If he just ends up buying SPY or some mutual funds he will be far better off in the long term. Metals always have and always will vastly underperform all productive assets.

Metals are a cash alternative to hedge against fiat, they are by definition not an investment.

>> No.52659509

>>52659455
I'd say the line is very much blurred. Gold: bet on commodity-backed reserve currency. SPY: bet on more QE. Stock appreciation is very much divorced from actual cash flows: everyone just chucks 10% of their salary in ETFs and expects to be able to sell for more later. That's the "driver".

>> No.52659640

>>52659509
That’s has some basis however the stocks in the S&P! DOW and even Nasceap hacruslly generate revenue, growth and pay dividends. An ounce of gold is, was and always will be just an ounce of gold; it produced nothing, is is producing nothing, and it will never produce anything. On the other hand the equivalent value in shares of let’s say McDonalds stock produced tangible revenue is producing revenue and will continue to produce revenue while also growing so your capital will grow while generating revenue. Not only will the nominal value of stock shares be greater than gold and silver in five, ten, twenty years but it will be exponentially so with the revenue reinvested.

The base case for metals is depreciation of the dollar, stocks account for that as well while also generating revenue.

That’s why for metals exposure I invest in GDX. You make more money in owning the companies producing the metals than you do on holding just the metals. The metals are a cash alternative and piece of mind store of value. Holding physical metals is absolutely not an investment. It’s savings.

Gold and silver are actual wealth. They will always be wealth. They aren't investments because they are the end results of investments. Actual wealth.
Why do you think every fucking crypto portrays itself as a gold or silver coin. Because its a primal instinct that gold and silver are money and they want to tap into that. Literally every human civilization all across the world recognizes this. You could find a remote tribe in the Amazon that hasn't had contact with anyone for 2000 years and they would STILL recognize gold and silver as money.
Your stupid ass shilling isn't turning anyone away from buying silver, and no, JPM does not have the silver to cover the contracts you lying faggot. So Mercari wants me to return them to the seller. They say once the tracking says delivered I’ll get my refund and to get a receipt from the post office incase there’s any issue.

Here’s the thing. I wanna be a nigger and keep the coins. Why? Because fuck you that’s why. (I’m not gonna sell them just think they’re neat)

So you are not talking about fake silver. You are talking about a numismatic fake. No ping test, magnet, acid, electromagnetic, or even xray test will detect a numismatic fake that is made from the proper size, shape, and metal alloy. You must examine the coin closely, and even then experts get fooled.

Here are the rules you broke:
1. If it is too good to be true, it probably is not true;
2. Buy only from reputable dealers (especially if you expect numismatic authenticity).

Let's speculate for a moment. Imagine you are China. The USA is now in open trade warfare with you. They are undermining your key manufacturing capability. On top of that, you are having economic problems unrelated to the US fucking with you. And domestic unrest, which may or may not be stimulated by US covert activity. What are you going to do to retaliate?

China seems to have expertise in counterfeiting. Why not counterfeit trillions of dollars and smuggle them into the USA to trigger massive inflation? The USA did it to Iraq and other "enemies". The main reason is that China holds trillions of dollars and would suffer huge losses with a dollar collapse. For now, China needs the dollar to hold its value. But the equation is changing.

China has been steadily unloading its US bonds. It must be careful not to start a stampede. But the tide has shifted and China is divesting itself of dollars. So let's assume China rids itself of most of its dollars. And lets assume, as is likely, that it is using those dollars to buy gold anonymously. Having turned its dollars into gold, why would it not, at that point, dump counterfeit dollars into the US and world market? It could maintain plausible deniability. The reason it might not is because the USA could retaliate and dump counterfeit yuan into the Chinese and world markets. How could China avoid the inflationary collapse of the yuan?

By issuing gold yuan coinage. It is very difficult to counterfeit gold coinage. So suddenly, the USD is undermined and the yuan becomes golden. The USA would have no choice but to also issue gold coinage.

>He was the cunt selling fake shit anyway why should I send them back?

While I don't agree with the anons calling you a nig, you shouldn't engage in petty fraud yourself. I like the suggestion of scratching, hammering, or otherwise ruining the fakes to make it impossible for the scammer to sell to a different noob. I think the seller will be on the hook for refunding your return shipping for the ruined fakes too. Send a tip including all address/contact info of the seller to the secret service and Treasury/mint about him selling counterfeit coinage and include a printed copy of the note along with the statute outlining penalties for counterfeiting in the return package to make him extra anxious in addition to being butthurt about the ruined coins, that's how you get your justice.

I've circled some of the obvious indicators on the 1921 fakes (a key date worth hundreds if real), the matching irregular bumps in the field in various places, most clearly the ones above "In God We Trvst" would never be present on genuine pieces and the matching dings on the neck are also obvious tells, the coins certainly came from the same mediocre quality die/mold. Anon was right about Chang sometimes making high quality forgeries using good .900 silver for rare pieces but these aren't specimens of those more sophisticated kinds of fakes, they're certainly just plated junk metal. If you know what you're doing it's safe to buy below-market coins jewelry and silverware from anywhere and thus get cheapies never available from dealers, but most of you anons don't know diddly-squat so will have to pay coin dealer Goldberg's goytax if you want genuine numismatics.

>Where can I learn more about how you easily spotted stuff like that aside from “lurk moar”

Unfortunately I don't know of any quick easy resource to direct you to, knowing what to look for and be on guard against comes with experience. Studying pictures and coin forum discussions of all sorts of different known fakes, handling fakes IRL (a LCS might have some on hand they'd be willing to show you) and learning about the art of genuine coin production as well as the methods of making forgeries using hydraulic presses or casting and the telltale characteristics of coins made by different processes all helps to build your understanding and expertise. Sometimes genuine coins like a plain 1916 merc dime would have a "D" mint mark taken from a dime of a different year and applied/soldered then cleaned up, they can look convincing but upon magnification one can usually tell Jewish tricks were involved. For the flaws on the 1921 fakes that jumped out at me, I know to look for irregularities in the fields which aren't present on genuine coins like bubbles, pits, bumps etc., lack of crisp definition between the background/field and embossed elements, and other evidence common with fakes but not present with genuine articles. The fake applied then brushed "toning" others referenced is another red flag. Seeing the exact same irregularities on a different coin of the same year further confirms the fakeness, so for example if you see a "good deal" on a bunch of 1921 Philadelphia Morgans, study each one for repeated flaws in addition to other traits typical of counterfeits. Most of my collections have been built cheap and many superb scores I've made others might overlook because they seem "too good to be true", but that's a rule of thumb not universal law. If you know what you're doing one can do very well hunting down cheapies. Thousands of coin dealers make a living buying low and selling high, there's no reason anyone else can't also buy low for themselves.

Here in the states, you'll get paid more for eagles and buffalos. In some states, coins with monetary value can be sold immediately after they are bought. Something like a bar of gold or silver is considered "used goods" and must be kept for a period of time, for theft verification reasons, in some states. This is why coins are considered more liquid in some cases. If you were to sell to some of the online dealers like SD or JM, this wouldn't matter. You can check their "buy" prices on their websites to calculate the spreads on products. You could call your local dealers to do the same.

2008-2011 shows a 4x in price while inventory went down 60%. 2020-2022 shows inventory falling by 80% with price declining 30%. So either silver is has the shelf life of boy band merchandise or price is being suppressed for reasons related to Fed printing. I'm betting the latter. In which case there's a rebound price discovery moment regardless of a physical squeeze. It may not make a 30x but I'll take a 1x with no downside other than the liquidity premiums of PMs.

Bombshell posted by Ditch on WSS :
https://www.reddit.com/r/Wallstreetsilver/comments/z85u0q/the_bankers_desperately_pull_the_efr_and_efp/

It's a bit complex (as always with Ditch), but basically if we haven't seen any movement from Comex's registered for the entire month of november, it's because the banksters used a kind of derivative instruments called EFP and EFR, which are synthetic OTC swaps. They are being used as delivery warrants by the issuers (CME Group/JPM/etc..) to play around silver deliveries via registered vaults.
In short, instead of delivering the physical silver, they are convincing the buyers to get yet another kind of silver IOUs, but unlike SLV it's being settled OTC, probably with some interests or cash incentives on top of it.

This is how we went from registered vaults bleeding over half a million oz every single day between May-October down to literally 0 for november. Meanwhile for 70Moz (2x what's left in comex vaults) of EFR were sold by the banksters this month.

Ditch believe that's it. The vaults simply are empty. But to keep the illusion alive, the banksters are inventing all kind of paper shenanigans acting as silver... at least on paper. And in the meantime, thanks to the price being suppressed via those derivatives, all majors participants exited their silver short positions. Like rats leaving the sinking ship.

But something broke down today. The last day of the month, this is not by chance. The physical machine restarted. And not just by a little : -1Moz in registered, and the same in eligible.
Do you know what it could be? The banksters consider they bought themselves enough time with the EFR/EFP to exit all their shorts, and now they aren't leveraged anymore, they don't care what's about to happen to registered (ie force majeure settling). The run for the exit is now allowed to continue with only few scraps left in the vaults. December might be interesting.

Frens, Santa might gib us a very special gift this Christmas.

Don't forget what (((they))) did back in October : private participants asking their SLV to be redeemed in physical were offered $2K in cash per delayed contract (5,000oz) up to end of December (last day stop).

Now it all make sense if by end of december the vaults are completely emptied already! Imagine getting fooled out of your 1000oz comex bars for 40c/oz lel.
Of course it was too good to be true!
Usually i tend to remain pessimistic to avoid deception, but this time my guts are telling me something big could be brewing. Like silver doing a nickel.
No matter what it WILL happen eventually, but i wouldn't mind this happooning for Xmas. I reached my 1500oz goal last week, so it would be the perfect timing.

Hey scrapfren, I have a tip for ya. Since you are already looking at silverware while out hunting for cheapies you should keep an eye open for vintage stainless Oneida flatware marked with their "silver cube" hallmark. Those were their premium quality pieces and they go for decent money on ebay. Some are better than others, the sets I got sell for $40 per place setting but other patterns are more desirable. I got 6 unused sets and 8 additional loose pieces yesterday for $14.84 total, should be an easy $200+ in the pocket after fees to put toward more cheap sterling. Since you're already out looking there's no sense in ignoring other worthwhile flips while hunting for PMs.

I buy storage units and resell things as a side hobby, it makes you appreciate gold and silver a bit more when you can dig through an entire unit of stuff and find nothing of any value.

It also makes you realize silver is undervalued when you can sell an old shitty gaming console and buy a pure silver bar with it, quite a good trade if you ask me.

Definitely, the larger the budget, the more you can dive into the later.
For a newbie trying to start stacking i'd advise the following depending on the budget ;
>1-5K ; 100% silver
>5-10K : 70% silver, 30% gold
>10-20K : 65% silver, 30% gold, 5% plat
>20-40K : 60% silver, 30% gold, 5% plat, 5% rare coins

Personal stack
>35K (at spot value) : 100% silver
But that's becuz i'm a schitzo.

Happy to help, here's a better pic of the mark which is very easy to remember. I think their simple "American Colonial" pattern is one of the best ones with single used pieces selling for $15-20 each; damn near sterling prices for stainless ain't bad especially if you come across a box full for a few bucks. Hence the term poor mans gold

>silver which is a byproduct of mining actually useful metals.

Anon...you do realize silver is a critical component for PVs right? You also realize that silver is among THE most elecrically and thermally conductive metal right as wrll as being extremely low on the chemically reactive end.

You're a retard for putting silver an iron in the same category.
Also, if silver was as abundant as copper it would replace copper in every application, making it #2 on your list (steel/iron are the same thing).

The ONLY reason it isn't higher on the <most used" list is precisely because it is too valuable.
