Still on the hook for taxes, but it's not too much considering the land is undeveloped. I plan on turning a portion of it into a campsite/lodge for skiiers, hikers, and hunters to generate some cash flow off it eventually to balance out the taxes. It's not as feasible if you are not living on or close by to the property, but I bought it because I plan on making this my life's work for the next couple of years.
I recommend anons do their research on property deals of course, because there are thousands of listings out there just waiting to be scooped up. The trade-off is that land becomes a full time job basically, because the comfort of the location is entirely on you to put in a well, electricity, housing, etc.
Fortunately, I caught this listing right when it was posted and jumped on it immediately. It's only a few miles from a decently large town (30k people) and there is a road near the front of the property with electricity hookups.
I predict the area is going to become huge in the next couple of years for year round outdoors recreation, but even if it doesn't I am still set for life basically. Free water, free lumber, rich soil that already supports raspberry and blackberry bushes, and tons of game to hunt/fish.
