Yes. A good school and good on the job training will train you well in that. Plus to get your license you have to learn it. Here are some pointers:

I did the OTR trucking for a few years. Heavy equipment. Lots of over dimension and overweight loads. High risk, higher rewards. I did get burn out on it.

Had a trailer wheel snap off at highway speeds and bounce into the oncoming lanes. Luckily didn't hit anyone. I did everything correctly for my pre trip. Wheel bearing froze up, rim snapped off the lugs. Shit happens.

Didn't want to deal with that shit anymore. Had plenty of money. So I quit. Fuck it.

Its a temporary job unless your name is on the side of the truck. That kind of investment is for a special type of people, though. Some guys can just grab gears and just live with the 80,000 or more pounds of liability rolling down the roads. No me.
