Long hours, zero pussy during college, WAY harder courses than 99% of other degrees, and the reward is…a 60k job starting (it’s been that for 15 years), zero advancement without changing jobs, terrible work life balance, and you make less than HR roasties and finance retards mid and late career.

Engineering is the biggest scam ever. Literally the worst career path you could ever fucking take.

Pass a certain threshold, income is inversely correlated with the amount of effort required, mental or physical.

Yes, I can see that argument. Pay has stagnated almost everywhere and yes the courses can be hard, but getting zero pussy is on you.
But 10 years after graduating I make 190k (total comp) and spend my day building robots. Haters gonna hate

This is why I just did construction management. Less difficult than engineering and more fun. You have the capability to make more than engineers depending on how well you network and carry yourself.

this is the part thats most confusing. experienced engineers carry their whole team. finance and hr ladies still provide about the same value as when they started, but they get 2-3x more pay

HR makes jack shit on average, i don't know why /biz/ keeps thinking otherwise. finance makes money because they're securing capital, guiding capital expenditure, and providing real world feedback to sales/marketing retards. if you let autistic engineers run a company they would run it straight into the ground e.g. look at the "resume driven development" phenomena in codenigger land, which will soon come to an end.

Engineering and post-life graduation is the world’s greatest midwit filter. It’s too easy to pass a la ‘C’s get degrees.’ An engineering degree in America means jackshit. No self-respecting engineering manager is going to put a Chegg-dependent addy addict on their team just because he can plug ‘n chug. That’s why you’re getting 60k starting.
I bet you name dropped ten different engineering related softwares that you’ve spent a combined 5 hours in. I bet you still have a broken solidworks model of your shitty senior design project that you couldn’t even open up if an interviewer asked to see it.
An engineering degree with the right background and mindset is god tier, and will land you an excellent paying job inside or outside of engineering. An employer is paying for YOU, not the degree. You are owed nothing.

Engineering is an outdated meme.
Everyone was talking about engineering in 2004 or so, back then it was a decent choice if you were smart enough for it.
People who choose engineering now are the late adopters, they are operating on outdated information and literally buying the top.
Every CS and HR roastie is making double if not triple my salary and working from home to do nothing all day, meanwhile I'm busting my ass in a toxic environment making $65k on SALARY (uncompensated overtime mandatory)
I got 12 offers coming out of college, so there are jobs, but all the offers were exactly the same in terms of compensation. It's almost like they are colluding to lock down wages.

Also you will have to live in a high cost of living area for the jobs. Unlike some CS guy making $200k and living on 80 acres of rural property, you will pay $2k a month for an efficiency apartment in a ghetto.
Also you will never meet a woman, ever, and if you are white you will be the only white guy under 60 who works there.

I make more than that on real estate. Which requires less effort, less time, who the fuck works for 10 years only to earn 190K.

Seriously dude you wasted your time, when you could have just bought real estate.

You do have to actually deliver software when asked. You might be able to juggle three jobs you know fuck-all how to do during orientation but I'm not buying the remainder of the fantasy. I just don't believe you have enough time in the day to fool three different companies out of 330k+ salaries. Companies do actually check references when offering that much.

Civil engineering is great. You can do jobs where they let you work a thirty/thirty-five hour week, go outside, actually make things happen and see them happen (big psychological boon) and stuff like that.

Buy yeah, if you want to work eighty hours a week for some gay jew VC, do Software Engineering or CS, you'll earn more money that way.

Yea, pretty much. Dropped NucE and did econ instead. Passed a few actuarial exams (econ degree alone is worthless) and now work's piss easy for more money than I probably would have made if I had continued with engineering. Job security's probably better too with all of the movements to shut down nuclear and go to green power, or at least that's how it was when I was in uni...

I had two experiences with girls in college.
1) I was sitting in my desk and my pencil fell on the floor while a girl was walking by. She picked it up and handed it to me and I said "uhhh thanks" and she smiled. I still remember her years later.
2. I became obsessed with a girl in my chemistry class and was convinced she would be my gf. I was tortured with longing for her. I waited for weeks to work up the courage to speak to her. I knew if I did not try, I would hate myself forever. One day after class we happened to be walking close so I started asking her about class. She seemed confused at first but was nice enough and talked to me. Even asked me questions about where I was from when I got awkward and quiet.
It was 5 minutes and then we went different paths. I felt elated and was convinced it was the start of something. I made a thread about it on /adv/ detailing the conversation and everyone told me it was extremely weird and that I was autistic.
I didn't get a chance to talk to her again for weeks because I could never catch up with her. One day she got stuck in foot traffic and we were about to end up side by side. She saw me and literally looked down and ran the opposite direction.
I was stunned. In my car I was quiet as I drove home. I laughed maniacally at how stupid I was for thinking she was going to be my gf and then my soul died after that.

It's middling. Significantly more effort and less payout than CS and finance, and you necessarily devote your entire life to being a company/career-man functionary and nothing else.

More like confused. Why would a sane person spend all that time in school, then work, only to make that much money?

Warren Buffet has a famous quote that says I do the thing thats easy, avoid the complicated.

And the only real estate I think you have is your house. Real Estate investing so so easy, fix and flip, develop land, moblile homes, land lord.
