Remember that Q1 and Q2 and some of Q3 in 2022 brutally got gangraped by the selloffs across high beta names. We saw flight to cummodities (oil, BTU bastard bahinchods, all the other sagas)

But the drawdowns in 2022 weren't really black swans for the most part except for the first few weeks of Putin's heckin invasionerino which shot VIX up very quickly and caught most offsides.

So basically what happened was we never saw the market get caught offsides HUGELY in 2022 -- most fuckers were hedged up with puts and we literally saw VIX stay sticky to 30 for a few months (VIX futures had extended backwardation for a whole few months which is quite long)

But that mean that everyone was hedged up and protected in 2022 so no one had to sell their longs since they all bought puts, which kept them alive.

As such the rate of change of VIX aka the acceleration of volatility aka volatility gamma was really low and no one was caught offsides with vol shocks (VRP harvesters aka put sellers didnt get fucked) and people were a-okay for the most part because of their hedges

But now that dynamic where everyone is hedged has shifted to a dynamic where you have gigaretard hedge fund managers and prop fund managers bidding up maxbeta shitcos (LOOK AT GSCBMSAL FOR FUCKS SAKE ITS THE HIGHLY SHORTED BASKET BY GOLDMAN)

It's all a fucking run for saving your yearly performance as a hedge fund manager so you go risk on and buy dogshit stocks and SELL PUTS
