Paper trade options for a while just to get used to how they move.. they can move 30% or more against you very fast, if its a strong thesis you still believe in you can try to average your way out. I never use stops they are going to heem you. I don't risk a large portion of my portfolio on any single options play. 1-3k max. Never play earnings, never play 0dte. Even the 7dte I rarely play I was just very confident 400 resistance was the roof

Most of your portfolio should be long shares as a safety net. Options are used to hedge or accelerate growth/leverage on "slam dunk" opportunities

Don't be too greedy and don't be afraid to lock in realized gains. You should probably just stick with swinging 3x leveraged shares either direction first if that's your goal it will give you practice with price movements and exposure to leverage without "oh fuck 7% day I'm down 90%" risk

Yes, that's all I have experience with right now managing my son's picks and watching them daily. I would have done some swinging during this time if we didn't have to play by strict rules of his program but it's where my natural instinct for swinging developed before I'd ever heard the term. I've had to watch one of his gain from around 110 to 150 back in 2021, then drop a lot, and just now over the last couple of weeks finally make it back to 150 and is now 153. I told him back when it was 150 that if we had control I would sell it right then because I felt that to be about the ceiling for a good while.
