Taxes are paid by the middle class. Rich people have ways to hide their money and poor people have no money. Taking a little bit from everyone in a large middle class is the only way, because the middle class can't hide money like the rich.
But none of that maters since modern 'taxes' exist to control the money supply by limiting supply. After you 'pay' taxes to the government, they might as well burn it.

Rich people also just don't have that much money in aggregate. You only get a notable sum if you tax stocks instead of flows, and in a couple years it will be burnt through and that's it.
The common refrain goes that you can use Bill Gates' entire wealth to fund K-12..for a year. You can't fund the welfare state off of a handful of rich people.

The next two steps in this process are to learn how to (1) identify exactly
what changes you need to make to function successfully in the trading
environment and (2) how to effect any mental changes that are necessary.
Manipulating the physical environment is as easy as moving a chair from
one place to another because that's where you want or need to sit. However,
to consciously change yourself to function more effectively in a market
environment that will not respond to your attempts to manipulate it will
require a thorough understanding of the nature and functioning of your
mental environment.

That's the thing. Federal capital gains revenue gets heemed by down markets (e.g. this year). The tech bubble knocked it down by 3% of GDP and 2008 by like 4.5% (https://taxfoundation.org/federal-capital-gains-tax-collections-historical-data/).).

Which means next year, ceteris paribus, our $1t deficit will turn into a $2t one. How the fuck is our deadlocked congress going to reverse that by $3t?

I was short at 4700 and got out at 3900, I'm still short on some things but not the broader market because I don't have the kind of capital necessary to hedge mid-dated calls and puts on every play I make because everything is the most schizo line chart imaginable, there is zero reality in which the US doesn't continue raising rates well into 2023 if not further before pausing and assessing the situation, the economy isn't completely fucked but it's not in a great spot either and I would certainly not be pointing to it as a metric of strength, inflation literally isn't over and is still happening to the tune of nearly double-digit percentages every month, we're ACTIVELY in a recession and no amount of kvetching from the government will change the Harvard Business School definition as such, and frankly reading posts like this just makes me think things are way, way, way worse than anyone is letting on. And I already assumed every market was powered by demons raping babies nonstop so I'm actually a bit spookt.

I agreed with that prior to Feb. Unless the US wants to lose full face, it cannot let Ukraine fail. Russia will have money to execute the war forever, if nobody stops their energy exports, and even if you stop the energy, they can dump a dozen other materials on the markets. ~5% is comfy, at this point. It puts a second thought into capital use, but doesn't stop high quality ideas, or necessity. Getting higher, imo, with the sanctions against Rus and China bouncing around, just suggests discontent globally. The US absolutely needs EU nations happy, if not fat and happy, to continue the shipments of cash and material.

No they don't, this is where you are misinformed.
On their product website it says
>Disciplined options overlay implements written out-of-the-money S&P 500 Index call options to generate distributable monthly income.
which is very misleading because when you check their actual holdings (also on their website) you can verify for yourself that in their portfolio is not one single written call on anything.
What they are holding (long) are some kind of "Equity Linked Notes" that they themselves put in the "Synthetic" category which seemingly magically only go up no matter what.
There's no further explanations on the structure of these "Exchange Traded Notes", how they work, and who the counter party is that willingly parts with their funds constantly.
I'm calling bullshit on the whole thing until I received further explanation.

Stocks will keep crabbing at least until they start doing something again. We will know for sure when that happens because price changes will switch from basically no direction to any direction at all. The main indicator that we can use to identify this switch is that we will start to see stock prices rising or falling instead of just sitting there. That will tell us when returns on stocks have begun changing from flat to positive or negative. With positive or negative returns, that means that stock values will be exciting to watch rather than fucking boring. Thus, the prices at which stocks are bought and sold will be changing instead of just staying exactly the god damn same. In fact, if a stock's price is changing, then that means it isn't crabbing.
