There is unironically no reason to save money and think about retirement because of AI, isn't it?

Even if super-intelligent AI is not created in the next 10-20 years, AI advancements would cause superabundance of all material resources, so everything is going to be free and available anyways.

Just like now, the people owning the AI will profit from the superabundance of all material resources, the others will get the crumbs.

The best part is that the AI will have the ethical and moral high ground in exterminating us. Humanity is really abysmal.

it doesnt, indeed building and powering such machines, if it was even possible, would consume a lot of resources.

there is no superabundance of resources, we are starting to experience shortages in almost every area now

>> No.52423952

>>52423865
Frankly there was never a problem of shortage for those things. Have you seen this planet? No shortage of land sitting there doing nothing. Shortage of infrastructure on that land, shortage of mining, not actual resources. Granted we're nowhere close to AI making those things cheaper but still
For now AI is just making entertainment cheaper and more abundant because even I can make a big ass RPG using AI backgrounds and AI character portraits. Previously that would be a team of a dozen artists working for years

there is lots of land, most of it does not have petroleum underneath it in commercially viable quantities.

Today we're far from developing a strong AI.

And even if it is one day developped it will probably replace all management positions in companies making them more efficient but not necessarily more beneficial for society as it will allow big companies to secure an ever bigger monople on wealth while hiring less people.

our ability to extract resources depends on availability of resources.

has tech made us work less? No, we work the same hours than 100 years ago, but the productivity has increased. This maans that even if we had blade runner like replicants, the goyim will still have to work even if it's inefficent. Just take a look at any office, since computers were invented you can do your job in 2 hours to spend 6 hours doing nothing pretending to work.

Weak AI's of today are just defined by a goal, an architecture and datasources. It will just try to find the best way to acheive the disered goal with fixed paramters.

Look at the little progress made with self driving cars to understand how complex it is to develop an "AI" able to take into account thousands of parameters that only humans can understand.

I'm currently sceptical and I'm not the only one.

Billions have been invested in them since 2010.

Do you see any self driving car in the street in 2022?

Even UBER closed their R&D department responsible for the devlopment of self driving cars because of the lack of results.

>> No.52424526

UBER is just one company, it doesn't matter.

And self-driving cars actually being on the streets depends more on the laws than AI advancement.

Overall self-driving cars are a bad metric for AI.
