They almost blew up a couple months ago along with everyone else

FTX saved their ass with a gigantic infusion. But it was a balance sheet infusion, and people are now speculating that much of it was in FTT or other collateral with FTX itself as the counterparty.

Now they're really falling apart, and nobody is there to save them this time I imagine. Who knows, I could still see somebody snapping them up in an acquisition out of this because it's a viable company and it doesn't have the same SBF stigma as FTX itself does. But even if that happens, customers will likely see pennies on the dollar back on their deposits, if that.

This.

People all giddy about slightly good news in markets fail to take into consideration the projection/timeline for inflation to come down.. At the current rate we might be lucky to see 4% by 2024.. That's way too long.

The fed is at least somewhat confident now that hikes are having a measurable effect and should go for another 75bps.

BlockFi was trying to get in the system in NY but was getting blocked by regulators. Uncle Sam is pretty fuckin inept desu. Look at what they let Kenny G and citadel get away with. Most normies think this means their bank is safe but this stuff could start happening to banks too. Lot of people don’t know this but banks legally can’t have bailouts, if they get another 2008 moment they’ll do a bail-in. In a bail-in, any depositors over the FDIC limit can be converted to worthless bank stock to cover the bank solvency.

Imagine every normie with over $250k keeping all their cash in one bank loses everything over that and gets shitty post-crash bank stock in return. Hell even the FDIC shit isn’t guaranteed cause the FDIC doesn’t actually have that much money on hand. Normies could be waiting just to get their $250k worth if this starts happening to banks.

Fuck if that shit happens it will make this crypto turmoil look like peanuts.

YAY! I doubled my money in MATIC recently. I like MATIC. It's got Mark Cuban and he's a badass. However...$10BN market cap? In a bear market? No sir. Noooo sir.

Polygon is just a scaling app. The adoption by major corporate partners is why I chose to invest in it even in a bear market to hold long term... However, Polygon's success depends entirely on the promise of future use. Adobe people can put their NFTs and shit on web3 using Polygon. Meta integration on Instagram with Polygon. Twitter payments using Polygon. Circle USDC payments using Polygon. Whoop-di-fucking-do. I can do all of that using my Visa card too. Polygon - like crypto - is definitely headed in the right direction and is absolutely the future of digital asset ownership, transfer, and payments... but there is so fucking far to go that a $10BN market cap is just straight cap.

I'll buy it when the world is on fire. We're getting there.

Maybe CZ will bail out the small accounts though, you know he dropped FTX cause they had a “black hole” on their balance sheet (due to hilarious derivatives Jewry) but BlockFi is probably just old fashioned bankrupt, but who knows.

If the banks fail they have express powers given after 2008 to turn depositors money over $250k into shitty bank stock and use that money to stay solvent. The money in your bank, you are an unsecured creditor, last in line. The FDIC will cover up to $250k but if too many banks fail at once and the FDIC can’t cover it all, they would have to print the money to make those people whole. We would likely enter hyperinflation almost IMMEDIATELY from that. No joke guys, this is actually in the cards right now. If the auto loan and mortgage sectors implode too hard (they’re moving towards it) somebody like Wells Fargo is gonna go insolvent and we may see regular banks have a crypto moment. It would be horrible for people everywhere but kind of entertaining for this crazy place.
