@the people that are discussing pmg here. GOLD gives you exposure to gold and copper and is still rather low but you can probably wait for a pullback. JNUG is the ultimate shitcoin.. it's an even bigger shitcoin then SOXL the volatility is absolutely giga retarded it can do 20% days/50% weeks so if you get a good entry it's an awesome swing trade. Having this kind of money seems to do something to people's trading psychology that I don't understand. I have a five figure account like most of us, and you'd better believe that I watch that thing like a hawk. First sign of trouble and I'm sitting in front of the laptop for hours trying to figure it out and looking for a good pivot or exit opp. I obsess over learning new methods for every single change to the market paradigm. Then I go on /smg/ and read niggers like you just casually saying yeah guys I lost 700k. How the fuck do you let that happen? A) central banks treat it as an asset implicitly balancing their liabilities (fiat) in a worst case scenario where they need to save their currency. No official gold standard is required, just having it and having some liquid means (like COMEX) to convert fiat -> gold is good enough. If you have enough to meet redemptions, you can hold your fiat up by pegging it to gold. Doing so makes US gov seethe however (they REALLY don't like it) and you might get your ass Gaddafi'd.

B) Net exporters (esp commodity exporters) need some safe store of purchasing power with the highest real risk adjusted return which they can recycle their surplus foreign currency into. In the 1980s this was USTs or US equities, but with rising geopolitical risk and high debt loads making positive real returns difficult, such exporters now recycle their profits increasingly into gold. Gold sort of functions as a 0-real-yield bond with indefinite duration. Critically, it holds a more or less stable ratio vs many essential commodities.

RBC has consistently out performed other banks at getting into emerging markets. Eg they had programs for FREE online-only business bank accounts to capture the startups on shopify/amazon/etc over 5 years ago in order to secure future clients

I also know they have stricter risk management regulations than US banks, so the upside is lower, but much more stable gains. In a bear market I'd trust canadian banks more than the US. They're also more of an oligopoly, american financial systems have way more moving parts due to them being the financial mecca of the world but canadian banks control a lot of the industry.

Your risk appetite should be a function of your portfolio size relative to your cashflow as well as your age.

If you can earn the money back in a couple of months, it makes sense to take high risk, high reward positions.
However if you are playing with 10x your yearly salary, you should be highly risk averse.

See that one's a little more difficult for me. I look at FCF for a company and that's about it. I don't know what FMV is, and that's still just an estimate at best. You have to account for future growth etc etc. Fundamentals is not my forte.
But it's easy to look at things and see everyone is trading on leverage (crypto, housing markets, loans, etc) and high interest is going to crush things. I don't think we're anywhere near the bottom yet, because once that starts to unwind it'll be nasty.
Mostly, I'd like to not get wrecked by the bleeding, but at the same time, any shorts will get whipsawed, so it's difficult to approach

People always bitch and moan when the market goes down. I know it's painful and I know it hurt. Alphabet, Amazon and Microsoft, all blue chips stocks, are down 50%. Right now we gotta take advantage of how things are now, and we gotta have confidence that things gonna be alright. I am buying 10k in each of these three firms, today.

Who's with me?

>In general, index options are associated with professional traders and equity options are associated with non-professional traders. Even though professionals use index options for hedging or directional bets, puts garner a significant portion of total volume for hedging purposes. The chart below shows the CBOE Index Put/Call Ratio ($CPCI) with the 200-day moving average. Notice that this ratio is consistently above 1 and the 200-day SMA is at 1.41, which indicates a bias towards puts. This bias is because index options (puts) are used to hedge against a market decline.
Professionals are buying the fuck out of index calls here
Either they know something, know that the CPI is going to come in cool
or, the usual is going to happen - too many people expected a cool report, market is too positioned for a rise - buy the rumor sell the news event, where because of the poor professional positioning going into this report, we dump very, very hard
did the professionals get it right?
right now, dollar movement says no, they are wrong
we will see..
