accounting is one of the most fail-safe careers you can choose though. you can always earn a livable wage as an accountant, always have job availability due to every job requiring bookkeeping, and always be able to climb the ranks granted you taking the initiative to learn on the job and do what you do better

although job-dependant, the accounting close cycles can be brutal and literally never ending. If you work in public you will face harsh close deadlines and continuous audits/balance sheet substantiations.
