Decentralized verifiable digital ownership (crypto) is a necessity for the digital future. Unless one government-corporation really overtly takes over the entire world, there will always be a need for exchange between parties. People are wising up to digital/abstract assets having value, since they spend increasingly more and more time on the internet. Crypto is literally the way that assets can be exchanged digitally in a similar way to real life--e.g. you have sole and absolute discretion on what to do with your property.
It is very clear that crypto is not going anywhere, and institutions know this.
However they may as well bleed us for as much as they can during the nascency. One nasty way to bleed us is the dual pronged attack of creating recursive bad-credit (pyramid) schemes, and then reking the pawns who operate said schemes (along with the entire retail market) by selling off the ill-gotten pyramid gainz and buying back lower.
Crypto is not going away and it never could have survived with the 2nd largest purveyor being fucking broke.
It may be able to survive with the largest purveyor being broke (cf. USA). We shall see.
