>thought I was doing well at my job
>manager was really annoyed at me recently, unexpectedly
>stuff consisted of not giving my opinion enough or asking enough questions about some process that I don't control, have little say in, and to which I've already given my opinion

>realise that some meetings are treated as pageants rather than discussions, where they're just a show for much more senior employees

I'm starting to think that working in a large company requires a level of normieness and oversocialisation that I may never have. It's like my manager is expecting me to read her mind when it comes to my supposed level of involvement in various processes.

I used to struggle with similar things until I learned a critical skill: not giving a shit. I simply stopped caring about what happens at work as long as I don't get fired. If they want me to go to time wasting meetings, sure I'll sit there. They're paying me by the hour so I get paid to just sit there. If they ask my opinion, I just say OK and go along with whatever they want. I just maintain a few things to show them I've made progress any time they ask, even if it's tiny shit that only took 30 minutes. They're so disconnected they don't know how much I do or don't do.

Is this a burger thing?

I understand asking retarded questions in customer meetings then I'd be pissed at you too. But what the fucm does your sentence mean?
