Hello guys. Im a newfag at this so I would like to know where to learn about how this whole crypto currency market works. I have plenty of free time so this is no problem for me.
I dont want to join those shitty discord servers where everyone just shills their own coins. Should I just read market books or do these not apply to crypto?

Don't go all in on one coin. When you're starting play with like 20% of what you have, keep the rest on BTC or ETH. You will miss shit but you'll learn the ropes.

Just play with small sums, make mistakes, make 10000% return on your initial investment and have eternal fomo for not going in deeper like the rest of us.

Join this discord group. It isn't a pump and dump or mindless shilling group. The guy doing technical analysis has made some fantastic calls. Made a good bit off of NXT last night. The pic is some of his TA.

I think that Forex books are a good way to at least get some trading fundamentals down as a fair amount of concepts do translate to crypto. As far as TA goes though, crypto behaves unlike anything else. You can identify patterns and consolidation within one coin but it's difficult to compare 2 coins against each other.
Start your portfolio with a mix of the top 10 as many of these are stable and still have great growth potential. I believe LTC and XMR have a great year ahead of them.
You will get FOMO on altcoins, ignore it as best you can. Patience is the name of the game. I started with $2000 in August. I've worked up to $10000. Not bad right? That $2000 was initially all Litecoin, purchased for $40 each. 50 LTC today means over $15000. In most cases, holding the majority of your crypto is the best way.

Step 1 Download Coinbase and buy Ethereum
Step 2 Send it to trading site of your choice

From another thread (not OP) -

> "Always measure in satoshis not USD, it took me a while to learn this.

Also, Market Cap = Circulation of Tokens x Price of tokens

Divide the current alt coin market cap by current BTCs market cap, multiply that by the current price and that's the target price (in USD), if it were to end up being the "next buttcoin".

Just because something has a low starting investment doesn't mean anything if the market cap is already in the billions.

The only way for market cap to ever go lower is if the token count is lowered, most projects will tell you if there is ever going to be a token burn -- give these coins preference if you want to long term HODL and believe in the project.

Get ready to buy at the FUD, and get ready to sell at the FOMO if you want to day trade.

It's easy to get lost in the sauce, some of what I said might be wrong. Remember this is a brand new market, you're basically the last of the "early adopters" at this point -- we're all figuring this shit out as we go really."
