You're partially his genetic heir, sharing much of his DNA through common ancestor. He has the same sort of stake in you as he does in his own kids albiet less. If he has say a 100% stake in his kids then he has a 50% stake in you and he should alot his potential wealth this way. If he has no kids then you are his genetic heir.
