For me I'm making 5 to 15 trades per day which if you total up the total cost basis on any given day it's probably at least half my day trading capital on any given day. But what I really am unsure of is how Schwab will even report the wash sales on the 1099B for options and does it even matter if you are cash to cash everyday? Because really you don't lose the loss on a wash sale, it just gets added to your cost basis of the repurchased shares/contracts. But if you sell those intraday too then are there any wash sales? Vs selling for a loss then rebuying and holding, my understanding was that wash sales were to prevent that later scenario. But I don't hold anything overnight so I think I just have a LARGE capital loss carry forward and those "wash sales" will come out in the "wash" so to speak.

As a schizo bobo who was smoking way too much weed and has some impressive losses on my incoming 1099B this year, I can say I have capitulated to a 14-18 DTE long calls/puts intraday martingale scalp trade strategy which has really helped me limit my exposure. I was basically trying to do the same thing with short calls and puts because I liked the idea of having time decay on my side, which makes sense sort of if playing with 0 DTEs, but playing the day of expiry has other implications I have since become aware of and no longer play as a result. But man I love this game. I sort of think spreads are a waste too, Mr. Natenberg wants you long and short both options and varying underlying futures positions all as a part of 1 trade. I can only imagine what the CME was charging for commission costs when he wrote that book.

You should get your losses if you are not holding the securities in question any more. Now the real goal is to stay break even or better for Q4 so you can actually use those losses against current year gains vs getting your capital loss limited to $3000 on the tax return and then the rest gets carried over to offset future gains or be used $3000 per year until it's gone.
