Computershare doesn't hold funds for you. CS lets you link an ACH account and initiate a purchase directly with it. The delay is in them taking a few days to receive the ACH transfer and go out and buy shares on the NYSE lit market, and then waiting for those shares to dehypothecate so they can be transferred out of the DTCC.

I've owned 2 and they've never been assholes. They are different than most other dogs though. They're more mellow, kinda like cats in some ways. They were bred as protector dogs, so they'll get super attached to 1 person and any immediate family, and get nervous around strangers.
