So my friend isn’t a normie, he’s one of us. He’s clerking at a law firm that specializes in compliance with securities law especially as it pertains to crypto. He tells me that from what he’s ascertained from how little the “crypto experts” he knows from his work know about the overall state of the space that we are super early. The people he works with are no dummies they know a lot and they are experts in the law surrounding crypto but they know less than your average /bud/ lurker when it comes to the technology and the whole ethos that surrounds crypto. The clients they represent are also very well funded. He sees all sorts of projects come through and he reviews their white papers and informs the higher ups weather this is a worthwhile project or not. He thinks we’re really more likely at the beginning of the dot com bubble vs the end here. He was telling me the other day how one of his law professors who is a well respected expert in blockchain technology hadn’t ever heard of Solana or Chain Link. We’re definitely at a low here because of overall macro economic outlook and constant geopolitical black swans but once we get over this we should be right back.

The masterminds behind this are using the conflict to incentivize the illicit weaponization of surveillance. Very soon illegitimate governments will forbid people from owning businesses because of their political affiliation whatever that affiliation may be. If the right gains power, liberals will be forbidden from owning businesses, if the left gains power, the opposite will happen. There is no recognition of criminal action by political bodies anymore, which is what happens when ideological conflict takes precedence over the proper function of institutions.

Because pseudonymous is not anonymous.
If the government can use meta data to track users, and they make certain units of currency illegal, then that means non-fungibility. Non-fungibility means vulnerability to cascading freeze attacks. Someone just has to inject and spam blacklisted money and everyone who interacts with it will have their accounts temporarily frozen. It'll become trivial to get peoples accounts knocked off the networked with these attacks.

Just like how there are certain bitcoin addresses that the government has black listed and any money that touches those accounts is also backlisted and considered criminal money, all non-anonymous money will suffer being constantly knocked off the network.

normie friends: that its pointless with no real value

my father (73) said this: It cant be a currency, a currency with this much volatility is useless *insert reference to 80s hyper inflation in eastern eu*, is it like a stock? then where is the return, the underlying value? Is it an enabler technology for future tech, well where is the tech? why not invest into that?

Privacy is not in anyway about concealing dirty money from regulated authorities, rather it is about shielding your wallet transactions from unauthorized parties with provisioning of making such details available to constituted authorities if the need arise, for example tax evasion or litigation.
