Where can I find some information about what percentage of US companies are meeting payroll via debt? I couldn’t find anything relevant on google.
I talked to someone who basically does the budgeting at a small business and they told me they use debt to meet payroll which sounds incredibly irresponsible so I’m wondering how many others are doing this as well.

I'm an accountant my understanding is that payroll is typically funded with short term credit, but I've never done treasury or payroll work.

Am I wrong to think that’s reckless? Or is that why as soon as growth stops people get laid off?
