I keep trying to read about bonds and I just don't understand the value in them.
I really want to buy a bunch of Israel bonds for the meme but I also don't want to lose all my money on a shit investment.
Anyone know any good sources to study about bonds?

whats there to understand
You lian the government money
they give you your money back +interest
if the +interest is less than inflation you lose

that's simple and easy to understand. i think maybe what op is asking is why the fuck would anyone bother to do that.

yeah that's exactly what I'm asking.
I just don't understand how it's a good deal for anyone but the government.
Like a min of 25k 15 year bond with 4.9% interest.
With 25k I could invest it in anything else and get the growth from the company plus the dividends of it.

>why
Guaranteed x% return
Doubt many consumers buy them it's for pensions and also for the (((federal reserve))) to manipulate the economy by creating money and buying bonds to suppress interest rates.

You shift your saving into bonds as you near retirement so a random market crash can't fuck you up right before you retire.
