It's addictive to watch your NPC farm. Albeit only if you use an actual bot that lets you afk for 30 minutes at a time. It's no fun having to click every 10 seconds or having to manually feed my NPC food/healing every 60 seconds.
I don't consider the avatar myself, I consider it my employee. Runescape is a good game if you have bots working for you. Play Runescape like it's a RTS game.

That was the most fun I've had playing because they fucked up and gave a low level summon (terrorbird or something?) the ability to give you infinite run energy and also hold an entire inventory for you. It’s funny, this is the one game I could never quit. I take very long breaks and then 2 years go by and suddenly I catch myself playing. Pretty sure this is like one of my comfort zones whenever I get too stressed out. I’ve been playing on and off since I was 8. I miss RS2, went for the 95 pray grind only for RS2 to become EOC/RS3 a year later. OSRS brings back the nostalgia, and the innocence. Even though the game is bot ridden and there’s an enormous influx of rsgp so much so that 1b is fairly common. Probably gonna set some time aside this weekend to grind away again. My OSRS account is like 9 years old rn and my only 99 is range, closing in on magic, str and hp. Hopefully they decide to rerelease ancient curses because I was a huge fan of the turmoil animation.

The labour you exerted in the game felt equitable and rewarding, unlike waging irl. The feeling of working in OSRS is probably the same feeling boomers felt while grinding in the 60's and 70's, but getting enough money to buy a large house + boat + retirement fund.

When I finally stopped playing I found out it isn't really as "afk" as I used to think. It puts you in a constant state of semi-focus where you have to keep going back to it every few seconds-minites, which prevents you from getting any real rest or focusing on anything else. Even when I tried to watch a simple movie while doing the simplest tasks on osrs, I would get to the end and not have any idea what I had been watching. Trying more complicated things like school work always ended in failure.
