MATIC is a side chain scaling solution for ETH. It depends on ETH.
SOL is a separate L1 chain. Fast and cheap, but also breaks often and requires expensive validator hardware.
DOT is a L0 aka a network of networks. It links together separate chains called parachains.

If you want to compare something to DOT, the closest would be ATOM or AVAX.
