It depends what kind of sysadmin you are. The term is pretty broad. Windows sysadmin tend to make less because they are a dime a dozen. I’m a Linux, vmware / virtualization, and large data storage sysadmin. Get your Comptia security plus cert because most places will want you to have it, especially if you do sysadmin for the feds. Then just learn a specialization and apply for entry level jobs. If you know your shit you’ll move up fast because like only 10% of sysadmins are actually qualified to be doing the job. 90% are morons that have no place in IT. Working in a data center looks kind of comfy I might consider doing it someday. I currently work in aerospace R&D
