Current Stock Market Regime:
AUM flowing from Equity Long/Short (aka ELS) funds to ETFs - this means we are seeing less depth (as ELS are the depth to the Market Makers) and more reflexive effects from ETFs
ETF Effects - higher bid/ask on high ETF ownership stocks
capital flows to non-dividend stocks and also capital flows to largest stocks (because of 2 reasons)
>1) ELS funds buy smaller stocks so they can beat the benchmark which is mainly large stocks
>2) more flow into large makes them more % of the index, which then means they get bought even more by new buyers of ETFs (and there are lots of new ETF buyers)
Market Makers are dominating flow as well
Reflexive dealer hedging from Market Makers pushes the market higher
Market Makers force vol down on the index, but idiosyncratic vol is going up
So we see dispersion (note dispersion and average volatility are key metrics for regime shift modeling)

More of the index premium is becoming correlation driven

Market making has shifted from fixed/dependent offset (true liquidity) to just a cheap execution of alphas

This means we see a convex liquidity provision profile against price change. As more liquidity is needed there is an exponential movement in markets since the market makers aren't really providing liquidity.

Small sizes still follow the typical execution costs == VIX as we would expect, but larger sizes have erratic costs that are regularly up to double what it was in 2008 when VIX hit peak.
HFs are overlevered as well, and holding highly correlated assets

Back in Feb, quants/quantamental dudes on Wall Street were saying August risk is massive and community alpha metrics were higher than ever even on non-OB timeframes.

Futures contracts represent a fraction of a deliverable, thus the insane leverage. The only similarities to options are the expiration date. There is no price decay due to volatility or time. Bank and brokerage accounts are probably safe from a depression. They will just print over any insolvency.

The bigger concern WEF fags are doing their cyber-games or w/e so they're obviously signaling that'll be the next bullshit to drop. Probably when China blockades Taiwan. That being said, I don't think they'll actually be able to nuke every account so they can usher in bug-eating communism where nobody owns anything. It's more likely the plan is to use the crisis as an opportunity "reform" the internet to kill anonymity and have a social-credit system that filters bad-speak even more than the current one.

Over the long term most businesses go bankrupt or get taken out. Even those that survive can just stagnate forever and decline like GE has this past decade. Real winners are pretty rare.
So I don't view a long term perspective as a way to feel comfy about my positions unless I'm actually confident in the individual companies I'm holding.

$13 is a pretty good average though, I thought you'd held since the T spinoff and were more underwater. My own average is around $14, but the recent earnings call and their general business plans for the future of the streaming services did not inspire much confidence. While I think HBO is the best service from a consumer perspective, and I also think WBD trades at a better relative valuation vs it's peers, it's getting hard to see the whole streaming industry as anything more than a giant money pit.
They really need to restructure the subscription system to make it harder to just cancel and resubscribe every few months to binge. Maybe add some kind of cancellation fees, like how gym memberships do it. Instead they're all raising costs for longterm subs, consolidating services, and dumping ads that no one wants. Basically seems like they're trying to restore the cable TV business model that consumers have all already bailed on (and for good reason).

nasdaq is down 13% on the 20 days. both had a little 3% pump back.

nasdaq is down 27% since the top in december.

both snpee and nas look to be in a tiny 5 day trading range. IF it continues then teh market should go down about 3% then reverse again.

pretty useless prolly but its funny to do these kind of speculations.

AMC is a stock to trade, not to own. I don't bully people for buying AMC so long as they admit that it's just a swing trade.

I really do feel bad for the HODLers who have been fed lies by their communities and have to deal with a CEO who is gaslighting his shareholders into believing that "every time we diluted, the stock went up, so actually dilution is bullish". There's also the CFO who dumped every share he had back in January and has 0 stake in the company.
