Reading archived threads in the days just before and the day of the 2018 bottom is fascinating. Here's one from the 15th of December, the absolute bottom of that cycle:

https://archived.moe/biz/thread/12123876/#12123876

Some highlights:

>Retard. We are so far from the bottom it isn’t funny. But by all means keep buying the dip.
>Absolute dumbfuck. See you at triple digits next year.

>That was the 3rd elliot wave downwards. The 3rd wave is almost always the most significant in terms of volume, volatility range and sentiment. 4th wave bounce from 3K and a final 5th wave down to end at 1-2.4K. THATS capitulation.

>Where's all this magic buy pressure supposed to appear from? People like you also convinced almost everyone that the bottom was 6k so they went all in with the rest of their liquidity. Then it dropped another 3k and now you expect people want to jump in? Bruh...

>expect a 6-year bear market
>keks who bought at $300 are beginning to sell, just to protect their x10 gains, kek

>daily reminder that on Dec 17, 2018 the first year of bear market will be over, and six additional years of bear market will be still ahead of us, kek

>i'm more interested in selling a local top here desu
>more i research the worse it looks

Thanks for keeping thread alive guys, I found a few more interesting ones.

https://archived.moe/biz/thread/12120356/#12120356

Dec 14th, the day before the bottom:

>We are going to be in stagnation for at least a decade. In the meantime all the scammy ICO shitcoins and Ethereum will die the fuck out. Only once people have completely forgot about December 2017, and zoomers reach their mid-20s, will we have a fighting chance of another bull run. The next one will be the big one though, because it can’t be fueled by FOMO speculative mania. It will be Bitcoin replacing USD as the reserve currency.

>People need long enough to forget about crypto and how much it burned people and time to build up some more money to buy back in. I could see it going up next year or the year after, but not much longer than that. Honestly, we've learned now how this works and we should hopefully not get burned next time.

>This feels different. The people who are all saying it's going back up are all December/Jan buyers as far as I can see. It used to just be the fanatics who would be optimistic in times of peril, but the real fanatics I think are gone at this point. I was never as fanatic and I tried to time the market too much and never made it, should have just held like all those guys I thought were delusional. Now I'm stuck with Dec/Jan buyers and pretty sure this shit is honestly not going to bounce back the same way it used to. There was too much interest in 2017 and it didn't end well for anyone who didn't sell before Jan.

>2017 was a once in a lifetime thing, the perfect storm, people thinking we will suddenly get momentum back after everyone got fucked in 2018 are delusional.

They can't refute you, they all know that their shitcoin is merely a simple ledger for token balancing and will be surpassed by gen3 chains like ICP, explains why there is so much FUD against ICP.

Meanwhile, ICP is doing 8GB-200GB smart contracts that can host entire film libraries on the blockchain itself, and there are still low IQ's questioning the validity of those claims.....
I guess clicking on a simple URL and have it demonstrated in front of your eyes is too much effort.
People that fud are afraid ICP will make their shitcoins obsolete.

>Where's all this magic buy pressure supposed to appear from?
you are forgetting one important thing there anon, the dump from 6 to 3k was caused by the fed and the magic buying pressure was the fed pivoting at the first sign of trouble
back then inflation was nothing and the economy was doing fine, now we are in total macro hell and judging by the dxy the fed isnt near a pivot just yet, that will be your marker

but the rest is spot on, lol at 6 year bear market we got retards calling for a decade bear market now
and also elliott wave is so wrong its hilarious, i remember all the threads from summer 21 who were predicting a drop to 7k sold the bottom at 30 and were expecting to hit new ath around now, they literally sold the local bottom and didnt buy back in

tl;dr cant compare any historical data to the situation of today

This bear market is a bit wierd, alt coins still holding relatively well against BTC, and really shitty macro environment and rising rates.

Maybe Arthur Hayes was right, we just need to know what the Fed is doing to the supply of money as it seems BTC price just follows money supply in lockstep fashion (interest rates are just a symptom of the disease of too much money printing).

Given that this is the case, I believe the Fed will continue to tighten until shit hits the fan as they are moving a very fucking slow boat and don't really know what they are doing. So Shemitah is still in play.

I'm not trying to imply that we are bottomed; I wouldn't be surprised to see 10k. I just think it's interesting how we see the same arguments playing out over and over again. There were also a lot of bulls that called the bottom, I'm just focusing on the bearish sentiment because it's more interesting. I guess the lesson is that nobody knows what will happen and to plan accordingly.

12/12/2018

>I never really looked into Bitcoins until they broke $100. I looked into it and saw it was a scam and a bubble. Then it went to $20000, before it came crashing down to its current $3500. It will continue to crash, back to $100, and the below that.

>You got quite a few years until another bullrun. Next year we have a decision on ETFs and bakkt. If they are both rejected expect the golden bear market to bless us with its presence. There will be a race to the exit when this happens, so if I were you I would wait till then.

>I’d wait to buy, it could end up dropping to $1200.

>people still expecting moon missions
>Yeah, we are not even close to capitulation yet.

>We still need to reach absolute capitulation level. My guess is 1k

12/15/2018

>The shorts gotta get the idiots to buy in over the next few days before they dump again and scalp the longs.

>Yes, volume is still very low. If it's really the start of a bullrun, we would see huge volume along with positive price action.

>I think everyone on this board understands we are going below $3k and possibly by a lot

12/16/2018

>Bitcoin has a few legitimate small, niche use cases, and will never have any wider-scale application than those limited use cases. but will certainly have value.
>Bitcoin's true value is somewhere between $100 and $1000. It will get there. The speculators will abandon it, since that boom will be over, and then it will return to its intended purpose.

>The real market cap of Bitcoins is near zero. They are worthless. I know why a sandwich has value. I know why a house has value. Why does a Bitcoin have value? It doesn't, it is pure bubble. Bitcoins are said to be worth $60 billion when they're actually worth $0. They were supposedly worth $330 billion a year ago. If within a year it can fall from $330 billion to $300 billion to $240 billion to $180 billion to $120 billion to $60 billion, it can fall another $60 billion to zero (or thereabouts). And it will.
