well if you can get a lower rate then you will save money in the long run.

The real use of loans is for young people to leverage their time in the market making them richer than their peers while they pay down a 4% loan for a few years while the market does 8% now and in the future. rich people can skip this step by investing for their children and inheritance before death.

T B H with how far behind the bond market has been lately, the steepener might actually mark the bottom.

Bond market has no idea wtf is going on IMO, because they believe a bunch of macro nonsense which was still wrong in the disinflationary 2010s but worked OK in that regime.

Until they get to grips with the way the world works now, break evens and such will continue to be worthless indicators and the bond market will continue to scramble to reactively to foreseeable events that it totally fails to foresee.

If your stock pumps randomly one day and you don't already have the paperwork filed and ready to execute... you'll miss your shot if it drops. BBBY has been a second tier meme stock for like a year now... so if he didn't have everything ready to go, just in case, then that was a big fuckup. Could have potentially saved a dying company

maybe its bullish. if they actually follow through, and if the fed holds firm on not printing more, then the recession they wanted to see will arrive very early, so no need for more rate hikes. actually maybe not because then you'll have inflation and a serious recession. idk how they will play that one.

Probably the best place to start. DIVO, JEPI, and SCHD are probably the best ETFs for that.

DIVO buys good dividend paying stocks and lets sells some covered calls to boost their yield to 5% a year. Their dividend has been growing 10-20% a year on top of that.

JEPI does the same, but with low volatility stocks (low vol stocks outperform high vol stocks on a risk adjsuted basis)

SCHD just buys quality dividend stocks and is probably one of the best performing ones historically.

SYLD is also another good one, but they focus on "shareholder yield" which is more concerned with shareholder buybacks insteads of just divedends (buybacks are not taxable events, unlike dividends)

>>51260710
bonds are for midwits. TLT is down over 20% YTD, same as with the SPY. And they yield less than a lot dividend payers.

If they actually follow through, and you have 8$ a gallon gas, and even higher in Europe, it shouldn't take very long. That's a big if, and there's the risk in going full doomer on puts. I also called the bear rally as well back late june, but I can't find post atm. Stocks need to go down to drive unemployment and DXY up, simple as. As soon as VIX broke the downtrend I was in SQQQ.

M2 also continues contracting b/c QT and collapsing mortgages which is so insanely bearish I can't even properly convey it. Stepping off the exponential curve of monetary growth is economically suicidal in a debt based fiat system.

All that said, currently I'm 95% certain they're gonna stop an extreme selloff like 2008, and I'm 90% certain they're gonna pump it going into midterms to appease the dems, so I will probably look for an SQQQ top later this month and re-asses then.

Depends what your calls are. I don't fully understand how they're suppressing it, but I think they want to keep it rangebound 20-30 basically, even as the S&P hits 30% down it'll not go much over 30.

That's probably about where I'll look for an exit on my short position. It also depends what's happening with oil and gas, because really all of this is about balancing voter gas price decreases vs 401k losses to win the midterms. Fed is so utterly corrupted by politics it's actually hilarious.

longing vol is necessary if you are using any sort of leverage.

There are smart and dumb ways to long vol. Dumb ways are short term long options and short term long VIX futures. Long UVXY is doubly dumb for this reason.

Smart ways are buying VIXM (or selling puts on VIXM with the intention to hold after assignment) and selling puts on VIX (preferably 9 months out).

Basically, the most reliable way to get rich is to get paid to hedge.

Its positively correlated to stocks because of low interest rates. Rising rates adversely affect bonds and stocks. The bonds won't yield enough to act as a cushion against losses in equities. There is absolutely no reason to own bonds when interest rates are so low.

TLT won't be coming back for a while. You are better off buying a 1x short bond etf as a hedge.

If you want fixed income, buy a covered call etf. Same amount of risk as TLT, with 10x the yield

Selling puts on VIXM (with the intention to hold after assignments). VIXM has low rollover costs (they buy 5 month vix futures, so less rollover). And selling a put means you get paid to buy it.

Selling puts on VIX. You don't have to worry about contango if you are playing the spot index directly (premiums are a lot lower tho).

Selling call credit spreads on Indices (NDX, SPX, RUT). Sell them as far into the future as possible, and preferably near the money. You get paid a credit and if the market goes or stays down, you will make money. The loss is limited by the long call, and you only have to worry about realizing a loss once every 2 years or so.

Buying low volatility stocks. Betting against Beta (BaB) states that low beta stocks outperform high beta stocks on a risk adjusted basis. It is basically like being long equities, while having a long vol overly as a hedge, without actually having to buy any hedges. You can also short (or buy puts and bearish spreads) on high beta stocks as a hedge as well. BaB is also know as Safe minus Risky (SmR) and Conservative minus Aggressive (CmA)

Sonny, you better pull yourself up by your bootstraps. I'll even give you a hint. Just toss out theories in the next thread, like "SPX is going to 4400 after midterms" or "/CL is going to 150 a barrel". Eventually someone will support or critique your argument and provide some kind of reasoning which you can then use for your own bull or bear case.
