Most NFTs currently on the market are useless, but there are some very promising applications for them. One notable example would be eliminating scalping of concert tickets. By distributing tickets as NFTs with a smart contract that pays the artist upon resale, scalping could be severely curtailed or even eliminated. I would invest in applications like that, but I would not purchase pixel-art.

A form on NFTs-as-art that actually makes sense to me is tattoo NFTs, where by purchasing the NFT you gain the rights to receive the tattoo (which is presumably associated with a popular IP or highly esteemed tattoo artist). This intersection of art and service is where I see art NFTs actually making a lasting impact.
