if energy per tx was low because PoW could be scaled properly, would you have as much of a problem?

We are going into an Energy Crisis. Your Proof of Work bullshit wastes too much energy and has to go.

bitcoin is wasteful. PoW isn't if done properly.

No incentive is the best incentive.

PoW is unnecessary when we can solve the byzantine generals / double spend problem with consensus. Its faster, cheaper and greener.

PoS is definitely a scam, but your original statement is not quite true. There is another way besides PoW to achieve Nakamoto consensus.

BTC Maxist spotted. What makes you think PoS is a scam?
Do you also think other consensus mechanisms are a scam?

>> No.51198960

>>51198373
I wonder where this shit is leading to. It's just so extreme.

>> No.51199440

>>51198940
Definitely not a BTC maxi. BTC has a lot of very serious problems that will probably never be fixed. But PoS is fundamentally broken in a way that even BTC is not. PoS can never achieve the trust model of Nakamoto, and throwing crazy shit at it that no one really understands (like conditional slashing, validator caps, etc.) is much more likely to hurt than to help. So anyone using PoS would almost certainly be better off using FBFT. But there is another alternative if one feels that FBFT isn’t decentralized enough.

>> No.51199850

>>51199440
As we all know, they both have their cons and pros. Also, we all know the major problem associated with using pow.

>PoS is fundamentally broken

No matter how broken it is, it can be solved. There is always a solution. Other consensus mechanisms can fit in with high BFT, like thatof Geeq and qanplatform if you are referring to quantum threat resistance. This is one of the major reasons why Vitalik is planning on mulling a switch to ZK roll-up after the merge.

>> No.51200310

>>51199440
Just scale PoW and the issue is moot.

>> No.51201940

>>51199850
No, PoS really is just completely fundamentally broken, and no one can fix it. In the future, ETH will be controlled by the Ethereum Foundation and Lido (if their crazy staking/slashing rules don’t kill the chain before that).
>>51199850
>>51200310
Scaling can and should come via L2s. The trilemma is real.
