i wanted to send/receive some bitcoin yesterday so i looked into my options for selfhosted wallets on ios. turns out there are hardly any! breadwallet and mycelium, two widely-recommended apps from years past, are apparently no longer; breadwallet was bought by coinbase (and subsequently deprecated) and mycelium is apparently unmaintained. bitcoin.org has a grand total of three (3) suggestions; one of them is obscure, one of them is infested with nft bullshit, and the third one is bitpay. in fact there isn't a single selfhosted wallet in the top 200 finance-category apps in the app store! why isn't there more interest in writing wallets among developers, given bitcoin's popularity?

The market has spoken and hardware wallets are vastly sought after for self custody purposes over hot wallets.

Anon, you're not supposed to use the blockchain. You're supposed to be a good goy and stack printed sats in paypal or cashapp. Didn't you get the big block bad memo?

yeah and the bitcoin.com wallet deprecated on all computer OS's and is now phone only. apparently we weren't trendy enough for them so they opted to go phone only. fucking faggots.

That's because anyone with a balance worth a damn has a separate air gapped Linux machine to sign off transactions. Google "air gap Linux wallet"
