What that pic in the OP is talking about in terms of how money is created and destroyed is probably the monetary policy; what protocol a state uses to mint and burn money (do you mint 1 X bill for every 5 ounces worth of gold in reserve? Things like that). The major concern with monetary policies is that there aren't authorities to audit others' monetary policies and quite frankly you can be like the US and muscle people into accepting the US dollar anyways.

You are confusing money with currency
Currency is simply credit that a person has for doing something and can be used to exchange for something else. Yes even crypto is credit on a ledger. Credit can be created and destroyed at any time by anyone.

Money in the other hand has to be a commodity because it cannot be created (it can but takes huge amounts of energy) or destroyed (it can but takes huge amounts of energy). But what makes commodities a commodity is that they have uses.
For example, in hyperinflation people use eggs as money as eggs can be eaten. The problem is that eggs rot so eventually people turn into precious metals.

i'm 40 and i made three big leaps that got me caught up to almost where i should be, but if i hadn't wasted basically the past 20 years doing ONLY that stuff, i'd have probably a million in cash and marketable securities by now, instead i am only just crossing the 300k mark.
you can do a little of that stuff, just not a lot.
the only way i know of to attempt to change it is to 1) you have to see a real return happen to train your mind to like returns. it can be a CD (easy), a dividend payment (moderate), a good trade (difficult) and 2) you're going to have to counteroffer your friends. find something cheap and tell them you want to do that. anyone who doesn't show up isn't a real friend.
and in general just cut back on social life: i read 3-5 hours in the morning before work, sit here at home and work, then read another 3-5 at night. i only pepper in a little twitch/youtube/etc., the balance of the time is dedicated to my wife and the dogs. you're going to want to go out every other week, for example.
